Alaffia, Curl Custard Control Shea Butter, 8 Fl Oz

I have (black) curly to kinky hair and activate my gorgeous curls by thoroughly wetting my hair every day. I put in products and let it air dry. This entire line works beautifully for me. I use the shampoo, leave-in conditioner and then this custard. And THIS product is the one that I would NOT part with. It's light enough to leave no residue when everything is dry (no embarrassing grease spots on pillows, cushions, car seats, yoga mats) but heavy enough to coat each strand, create a cast and hold the curl in place as the water evaporates. No frizz! I apply a quarter size to 2-3inch sections of my soaking wet hair, finger style it and I'm out.I love this product. It is pricey and the more hair you have, the faster you'll burn through a tube but believe me...it's worth it.I haven't found anything that defines my curls so beautifully and leaves no sticky residue behind.

I have used this product for 8 months now and doubt that I will use anything else again! I have naturally curly hair which is hard to hold. This cream holds the curls without being sticky, stiff or crunchy. Just soft curls and no frizz!!!! This company should hire me as their spokesperson because I keep giving it to my friends who have curly hair and like me have tried endless products. Nothing has performed like it. Tossed all of the other products out.

I just have curly hair not necessarily kinky. I love this product. My hair looks its best when I use it. Being an allergic person, I can't use it as often as I get a rash on my skin that my hair touches but not on my scalp. Disclosure - almost all products have been bothering me lately as I go through allergy cycles.

Great quality but not a fan of the texture. It's drippy not buttery.

It's a good product but you can't use it without your hair getting rock hard (unless that's just me) but I like the company if you want your hair to be soft after use I would suggest the curt activating style cream

Awesome product

Different products work differently on different people as I have tried so many curly hair products - Deva, Mixed Chicks - you name it and none work as well as this for me. I do have to pair it with Pantene Pro-V Curly Hair Style Curl Enhancing Spray Gel (which I also buy on Amazon) and neither product works on my hair individually - only when I combine the two. I have even tried the products by this brand that have better reviews on Amazon and they don't work on my hair. If you struggle with other curly hair products - this one may just work for you too.

For context: I have a combination of curl types, mostly type 2B and 2C, very thick hair, and come from a European racial background. However, I have found that hair products designed for individuals with mixed racial backgrounds are ideal for my hair, as those designed for individuals of European heritage are usually too light and do nothing to control my hair, but those designed for individuals of African heritage are too heavy for me and weigh my curls down instead of defining them.I use Mixed Chicks shampoo and leave-in conditioner along with Miss Jessie's Multicultural Curls right after I wash my hair, as I've found that this curl custard is too light and runny to provide adequate staying power and definition when applied to soaking wet hair. However, because I only wash my hair every 3-4 days to prevent stripping the oils and causing frizz, this custard has proven the perfect product to apply as a light layer after slightly dampening my hair on the mornings I won't be washing it. It does a great job of perking the curls back up and defining them, especially around my face, without making them crunchy. I will add the caveat that this is much more successful with a shorter haircut; my shoulder-length hair responds very well to this product, but when it was 9 inches longer at my mid-back, this product did little to influence it, particularly at the top where it was weighed down by the heavy curls on the bottom. The runny consistency also means you'll go through this tube faster than heavier conditioner-consistency creams (don't be fooled by the name "custard"- it's thinner than your average curl cream.)Final verdict: If you have medium-small curls, and either thin or short-ish thick hair, this is a great product for perking your hair up in the morning and stretching your styling between washes, but unlikely to become your primary after-shower curl cream.
