(I wore it with a simple shift dress to a gala.) It's sparkly and elegant.I didn't realize the belt band was metal - the whole thing is coiled metal, like a slinky but tighter and stronger. I thought that would feel weird, but it really didn't. The coiling gives it a certain amount of elasticity, even without having different size settings. (Although that might also mean it would pinch if you're more than just a little larger than its target size.)The one issue I had was that the fastening mechanism isn't the most secure, and the belt is so elastic and weighty that if the fastener comes undone, it springs away like lightning. The good thing is that as long as I didn't touch the belt, it did fine even with active dancing.
