Does it keep water out of the ears

No. If it's big enough, it will cover the ears. Water still seeps through cap though.

My daughter is 12 and very thin but had a full head of dense curly hear to her shoulders. Do you think this will fit? Or should I go with the regular?

My daughter just turned 9 and this cap fits her head perfectly. I would have to get her a bigger size in a year or so...

Is it hard to put on and off? Would it feel tight for a 7 years old? Thank you.

It fitted my 6 yr old at the time. It was easy to put on. You just have to place your hands in a praying position underneath the hat and strech it until you hug your son's head, then you let it go. Just be careful if you are wearing any rings because it might tear the hat while helping him to put it on.

Does it fit a 3 years old ?

I don’t know because I bought this for my 9 year old. After just a couple of wears it ripped. I sent an email to the manufacturer and they would not replace it or refund me. I would not recommend this cap.
