They don't have an odor. They are round, so when you put them down, be aware they may roll away 😂. The handles are aggressive, or maybe I just have baby hands. I like it better than slick, though. I put some on the scale, they all were pretty accurate. The 50-lb pair comes in the same box, so the big box you'll see is 100lbs. Hope you're already a little strong 😂. The weights come in a wooden crate. It is a splinter machine, so wear gloves. Speaking of that crate, if you have a gravel/dirt/poor driveway, the pallet jack won't be able to bring it close to your house because the wheels will dig into the dirt and get stuck. I had to drive to the end of the driveway, load all the weights into my truck, and then drive them to my house. Not a big deal, but you should be aware. Remember that 100lb box? Can you pick it up and toss it into your vehicle? Other than that, I like these weights; I'll buy the 55-75 set later, but that will be quite a while, as I discovered how heavy 50lbs is lol.
