Great drives, depending on the seller
I will not purchase from MD Tech again, and I would advise everyone to stay clear. The review is still 5-star because the original drives from a different seller are great. I've had mixed experiences with these drives. The first two that I ordered were great, worked with no issues whatsoever and have been running basically non-stop for years now. The second pair I ordered from MD Tech (to switch from RAID 0 to R10) were not recognized by my UEFI. Thought it might be a cable issue, so I pulled one of the originals that was working perfectly, and plugged in the new drive to the same cables, still not recognized. Tried the old drive with the new cables just to be sure it wasn't a bad connection that fried the drive or something, old drive worked fine. This happened with both of the newer drives.

Great deal, great drives
Bought 2. The drives were individually packed and sealed in electrostatic bag. No signs of use, so externally like new. They were used for 6.5 years based on S.M.A.R.T log, no errors in the log (i don't know if those can be cleared) max temp on one was 61'C and 48'C on the other. Did read only scan using badblacks software and no errors reported. I think it's a good deal, they are silent, you can hear the head moves but the spin is silent. I think (personal philosophy) that is better to buy used high quality enterprise grade drive than cheap brand new of general user one from last say Seagate. Those are Japanese designed, made in Thailand. The SMART also reported 100% helium.

Junk.
I got this last year because my back up drive at that time was acting up, but between work and school I didn't have time go through the whole process of recovering files. After graduating I finally had the time to dedicate to file recovery, but I could not get this drive properly formatted. Quick format would fail so I did a laborious 60 hour format, but it didn't succeed. Decided to try the ext4 file format in Linux and I thought I finally had it up and running, until the drive just disappeared from my system in the middle of file recovery. Now I have 2 failed drives only used for a fraction of their capacity.

Quiet and Decent performance for used drives
Needed something with space, and not a heavy price-tag. with 2 of these, i am able to run my unRaid server with a full replication of a Synology array, and have room for Apps/VM's and Docker Containers. Have these running in as a Raid 1 or 1 drive is primary, and second is a parity drive (replication). both drives had exactly 5 years of uptime. and they are WD Drives.... reliability is there. I intend on using these until they die...or need more space. (guessing another 3-5years) Cheap, Quiet, Cool, and still full transfer speed of around 125MB/s

solid drive but check your seller first
Got one of these refurbished and it's been running without any issues for months now. The 10TB capacity is kind of insane for what you pay and it formatted and set up without any drama at all. Just a heads up that some sellers apparently ship drives with connection quirks so definitely check reviews on the specific seller before you buy. Mine came through fine and copies files at a solid speed for storage and backups. Pretty good deal overall if you do your homework.

RAID Array - GOOD Results -- Save Money!
Anytime your buying something 'repurposed', especially computer equipment, it can be a bit scary because your relying on the intermediary to validate that they are providing a working product. I'm skeptical. I've worked a few years at a Datacenter (FAANG Company) and know the abuse that these devices get put through. I decided to purchase this product, but perform full benchmark testing, and do a complete read, read/write and distributive test. I bought two at different times to make sure I get different batches. All test passed, and both are currently in use as a RAID 1, hosting my personal, critical, family pictures. Dont be afraid, save some money, and buy this!!

Great HDD!
I purchased this drive in January of 2024. Worked great until late May. It gave me an error and forced me to reformat the drive Luckily I was able to move the contents rot an another drive. After reformatting the drive I tried using it once more the drive gave me a second error 2weeks later, and would not allow me to move the new data place on the drive the day before. I lost 5 recent client projects on this drive. Maybe it's because it is a RENEWED DRIVE... I cannot in good conscience suggest that anyone should by the drive as a RENEWD DRIVE. DON'T DO IT!!!!!!

NEEDS SATA Power adapter(s)!!
I bought 2x 10TB and 2x 14TB HGST drives and for some reason, they will NOT show up in bios/RAID controller using the power cables supplied with my power supply (Corsair RM750x). For giggles, I tried the supplied SATA to SATA power adapters supplied with the 14TB drives and behold, they show up now! Not sure why, but now I need to purchase 2 SATA to SATA adapters in order to use all the drives I purchased. Also, the listing states that the 10TB drives comes with power adapters, however, mine did not, so now I need to purchase 2 more in order to even use the drives.
