They swivel easily in the brackets and have a slightly rounded edge that won't damage rope or straps. You want to pay attention to the direction of force, though. If you draw a line through the screw holes, then any force in that direction (either way) is what these are designed to hold. However, if you go perpendicular to that line, then they going to be weaker because of the D-rings peeling up the brackets. This isn't a flaw, though; it's just the reality of this kind of bracket. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Looks great *by J***N on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on August 25, 2022* These tie downs are great but I wouldn't put too much of a load on them. It depends on what you mount them to. I would use them to tie down a moderately sized riding mower in my small 4x8 utility trailer but only if the wheels were chocked. looks like the stainless steel is very good with no sharp edges.
