Its a really good Gin
I had tried other gins from the Cambridge distillery and really liked them so I was intrigued by their Truffle gin.I was so glad I purchased this bottle the gin is so different it obviously has a great gin taste but also a nutty element too, this gin is a winner for me.

Classy bottle and unique earthy taste
This is a truly unusual gin, and its pedigree is obvious as soon as you see the bottle. It is a classy square affair, dark at the top and shading away to clear glass, and the stopper is glass as well. It comes in sturdy cardboard packaging but it is just plain brown so not very exciting as a gift presentation. The idea of Truffle gin is one that puzzled us - would it taste like gin or mushrooms? The answer is, a bit of both. The nose is very earthy and powerfully fungal, initial taste is savoury but you can feel the fire of the spirit, and the after taste is definitely junipery gin. The distillers at Cambridge use white truffles from Alba plus juniper and a range of secret botanicals. Of course white truffles are super expensive, hence the price of £80 for a 70cl bottle. It is not overly alcoholic for a spirit - around 40%. It was invented as an after dinner drink instead of brandy, whisky or liqueur and that is the way we enjoyed it best, with a chunk of ice and a twist of orange peel.We also tried it with tonic water but prefer the traditional botanical gin taste in a long drink. We made a Dirty Martini with frozen glasses : 6 parts well chilled gin to 2 parts dry vermouth and a green olive - that was very good.At this price we will be using it for special occasions. If you do not like mushroomy fungal flavours it is perhaps not for you: but we really enjoyed the taste.

MMMMMM DELISH
First had some in a gin bar, had to buy some. It is expensive, but OMG well worth it. We drink it neat on the rocks, highly recommend!!

Not for me
Unlike all the other reviews I wasn’t that keen on the aftertaste this gin left.I am a gin drinker and I tried it neat as suggested with orange but that wasn’t for me. Much better with tonic but won’t be buying again. Especially at that price.

Cobbler anyone?
Tried this Gin at a Gin Jamboree and must say I was not satisified with it.The Gin has a very pungent leathery smell which also persists in the taste, even watered down with tonic. My partner and parents both tried it and we all agreed it was like chewing on a boot!So unless you have a taste for strong earthy flavours and botanticals, I do not think this gin is for you.

I like it
A surprising one but I really like it. Not usually one to drink gin by itself but it’s great as an aperitif.
