To operate on that side of the fence, the airport rules / ground controller requires you have a rotating beacon that can be seen, and that it operates while you're driving.This fit the bill - it's cheap, the suction cup is super effective (too good, frankly!) and the magnet back up keeps everything in place. When I connect the trailer, I plug this into the cigarette lighter jack in the tailgate of my car, pop it on the roof and switch it on.I don't need all the funky flashing modes this thing has... but what I do really like is once you pick the mode, it remembers which one you were in, and each time you turn it off and on again, it stays there. Had it on the roof with wires run though window seal into dash 12V. It lasted for a year on the car and was very bright and always worked amazing. Very easy to use and switch flash patterns. A little small but looked good on a full size SUV.The bad, was driving to work during a tornado and the amber cover was blown from the light and destroyed on the highway. Without the cover, it still works, but is practically useless.
