Altama Unisex Vengeance SR 8" Side-Zip Lightweight Leather Boots

These boots fit well, are comfortable out of the box, and are very light. They're probably not the most durable, but these will offer you ease and freedom of movement due to their slight weight. The side zipper is also a great feature for utility - it moves easily and doesn't get stuck or caught frequently like the smaller zippers on most side zip boots made nowadays, and the zipper itself is large and stout.

Very well made and very comfortable. I will up date if the fail in the near future , but I don’t see that happening. These boots grip great! I live in the country and wear them everyday. They are comfortable and give my feet relief Well worth the money. Just bought another pair of these boots. There was nothing wrong with the ones I had bought in October. I wore them everyday, and the place I live in a area that has a lot of small mountains and hills. I also worked on them and my 1/4 mile down hill drive way requires a lot of shovel and wheel barrel work. And the boots never let me down not once. I love these boot and will buy them as long as they sell them. Thank you Altima for making a damn good pair of high quality boots that are affordable. No one gave me a coupon or discount to leave a positive review. I did this because they deserve it.

The quality of the Altama Vengeance SR8 side-zip is outstanding. Moreover, it is manufactured in the USA. (Some exceptions.) Having said that; I normally wear a 101/2 D. Well, I had to replace it with an 11. (So about a 1/2 size difference. They are a bit snug with tube socks. In the meantime , at least I’m hoping they stretch a bit after some wear, I plan on using thinner socks. Hope this information helps someone planning on ordering a pair. I do highly recommend buying a pair to all.

I was suspicious because tags inside the boot admonish the wearer to avoid tightening the middle three lace eyelets to prevent zipper failure. Why not use a more robust zipper? Sizing is way off. I ordered and received 11.5 W. They are wide only in someone's imagination and are closer to an 10.5 or 11. The laced area of the boot can't come close to narrowing sufficiently. The toe box is not as deep as needed in a duty boot. They're more like a casual running shoe than a duty/work boot. This reduces the effective length of the boot by at least 1/2 to 1 size. I ordered larger, knowing from experience that Altama's boot lasts run small. I've tried US Army lacing, ladder lacing, crossover lacing, etc...and nothing locks the heel. Not being able to tighten the fit around the ankle, without risking damage to the inadequate zipper prevents locking the boot securely. Consequently, your foot slides forward into the narrow, shallow toe box causing the toes to bash into the end of the boot. The material is so thickly padded that, when worn, they feel like ski or post-surgery boots. I don't "zip and go". The laces are loosened and the zipper is used only to don and doff the boot. Once on, I (tried to) fine tune the fit with the lacing. With all boots, after a mile or so, I readjust the lacing to accommodate for normal expansion of my feet under load. I don't feel comfortable trying them for their purchased purpose, desert and mountain hiking. The boots are extremely comfortable (almost pillowy) when standing. But walking even slightly downhill is shear agony. Not what you want in a hiking boot. Aside from Altama's admission that the zipper may fail if the boots are properly laced, I can't comment about their durability. I'll return these or they will become work around the house boots. I'll check out Bates and Merrell for hiking. Sorry Altama, these fell short of what you once delivered. Two stars...For at least meeting the definition of a boot.

These are cost effective and comfy. The only thing I question is how long the zipper will last. It constantly feels like it’s coming undone(but it’s not). I love the conscience of the zipper but if your doing anything out of garrison, I would get the lace up boots.
