Review: Amazing - I was a huge fan of the Assassins Apprentice trilogy, and was a bit put out to discover the next trilogy in the series, didn't follow Fitz's journey. But I have to be honest. This trilogy is even better than the Assassins trilogy. While the story, characters and plot are all great in the Assassins trilogy. And the writing in itself is so good the books are amazing on those merits alone. For me personally, I just felt the Assassins trilogy lacked darkness ( in the form of violence and grit ect ) which is surprising given the storyline. However the Liveship traders trilogy was everything the Assassins trilogy was and more. The characters were great, the storyline was immersive and flowed well, and the writing was, as usual from Robin Hobb, exceptional! But even better, was how gritty and violent the books were throughout. Not overly so,but just enough to really capture the imagination and shock you (especially Captian Kennits story and character). How it subtly ties into the Assassins trilogy was also really well done. All in all an amazing trilogy. Would highly recommend! Review: Amazing, beautiful storytelling. - Robin Hobb is truly a masterful author. I really enjoyed The Farseer Trilogy and this trilogy was equally impressive, set in the same world after the events of the previous trilogy but in a completely different environment and with new fantasy elements. I read a lot of fantasy and Hobb really sets herself apart from the pack.

Fantastic, complex, emotional
A deeply engrossing and complex series that follows the lives of both ships and crews in a fantasy world. Brilliant.

Original, gripping story
The first I've read by Robin Hobb. The whole liveship idea is original & fascinating - an intriguing hook right from the off. Tremendous world building. Great characters, & my goodness how the author makes them suffer. In Game of Thrones style, one or two got bumped off just as I was beginning to like them! It's a very serious trilogy & the only thing missing for me was a sprinkling of humour, which would have provided a little light relief here and there. But that's a very personal preference & perhaps the author didn't think it appropriate or it isn't her style. Each book held my interest throughout & the story came together in a very satisfying ending.

Serpents struggle
Great books about the serpentine struggles and their ancestors lives as liveships, I love that 'the fool' is in this series too. Rooting for each couple as they search their hearts for love Robin is a great story teller

Robin hobb wows again!
Beautiful ending to the live ship trilogy, I have come to love these characters and feel deeply for their struggles and triumphs, hoping many will turn up in the later books in the Elderlings universe. Robin Hobb is the queen of beautiful slow build with tremendous pay off, can't recommend enough. I'm looking forward to catching up with Fitz in the Tawny trilogy later this year. Content Warning ⚠️ this book deals with dark difficult and subjects or sexual nature, encase you sensitive degresstion is advised

I read these 3 books in a month, I'm so busy but couldn't put them down. It's so emotional and I was so invested in these characters. Going to read all of her books now. The way she expertly writes her characters and the plot, so intricate, so beautiful. Worth every penny. I will say it it dark. These characters go through so much but the payoff is worth it.

So, this trilogy is my least favorite of the series, BUT still amazing. Hard for pirate tales to not be amazing. Characters are unique and interesting. With a good compelling story.

I love these books. I have "read" them in audiobooks, and I could not wait to have them on paper. These stories are bewitching and will keep you reading all the 16 volumes of the Robin Hobb universe, with characters that grow up and live all kinds of adventures in a world where you have 2 kinds of magic. As I said, I could not stop listening and I mean to reread them all over again. The binding is quite good, the book opens almost 180 degrees without having to crease the spine. Also, the library that sent them was perfect, the books arrived in perfect condition, with only a little delay on Customs (no payment had to be done).
