All Glass Aquariums Aqueon T8 Fluorescent Deluxe Full Hoods, 24-Inch (Actual Size - 23.8" X 9.6" X 3.3")

I love it! I have a 16 year old 55 gallon tank with the original hood and light for it. Unfortunately, after all these years, the hood began to crack and broke into two pieces. Hence, I needed a new hood. This one, two actually fit perfectly on my rectangle tank. I couldn't have found a better match for my tank with this one. The plastic is lighter made than its predecessor, but hopefully will last longer. As with the original, I needed and bought two of these for my tank. I also considered the LED lights, but I prefer fluorescent and this fits the bill. Unlike its predecessor, this cover comes in three pieces. Where as the original came as two pieces: the hood as one piece with the lifting lid and the second piece being the light; this one comes with half the hood, attach the lid to make it one piece and then, the light sits on top. It was packaged properly, arrived safe and promptly. The lighting is adequate for an average tank, and the lid is easy to open and close without any fuss. The lights are silent, which for me is a plus. Overall, a decent purchase for me. I have no hesitation in recommending these to anyone else looking for a new aquarium hood with light for their tank. I'm quite happy with mine.

Fits perfectly

I've had this kind of a light hood for a fish tank in the past, so I was seeking it out for a newer tank that I had bought which didn't come with a nice lighting system. I like these old school hood lights because the light seems to be distributed a little better and they last a lot longer than the standard LEDs that come with tanks these days. I noticed the reviews for this hood light was not great because people were saying the sizing wasn't exactly right. I measured the top of my standard 20 gallon tank several times (23 inches long by 11 inches deep) to make sure I was getting the right size. The hood ended up fitting perfectly and it provides a lot more light, which I really like. The only complaint I could make is that the cord coming out of the hood for the plug-in is made a little bit thin compared to the thicker cords that these hoods used to have, but I think that's just a manufacturing change because I've bought other electronic products more recently with the same thinner cord. I've been using the hood for a few months now and it has shown no signs of problems. I'm very happy with it.

Looked for one locally, and it was well over $100 for this same hood, so glad I checked Amazon first, saved well over $40 and fits my tank fairly well, needed to replace the old one as I broke it when I stepped on it and cracked the glass.

Not sure when it became 'in style' to just slap a piece of glass across the top of an aquarium, and call it a canopy' ! Then, to hold that 'in place' you have to buy a bunch of clips, at extra cost !! I've been looking for this type of solid, 'old school' canopy for a couple of years since my original one began to (literally !) break apart after 18 years of use. These classic aquarium hoods make your aquarium look sleek, and finished, with the ADDED benefit that, by their good, timeless design ? They actually point the light - needed for good plant growth - down into the tank, instead of up and into your room the way a glass canopy does ! I put this on my 18 year old 55 gallon tank, 48" long overall ( so, it took two canopies, total, so the canopies are NOT actually 24" long, but just under that to allow for the plastic rim of the aquarium to fit properly around it, and support it) . The fit is perfect, and I'm very pleased with it.
