At first I thought it a bit pricey for a piece of stainless steel but after holding it I believe it'll last a lifetime AND THEN SOME. I've used this on multiple things from cabbage for kimchee to chicken breast for cutlets, all with great results so...WORTH IT!

This is an amazing addition to my canning cabinet. I use it to squish down cabbage when making curtido (El Salvadoran sauerkraut). When I'm done, I can just rinse it and dry it off. It doesn't hold liquid or odor or anything, so it takes very, very little to clean it.It also fits in my dishwasher's utensil rack, and came out beautifully when I washed it there before its first use.Also, I took it to a friend's house and she remarked that "it's like a work of art - you could just leave it out on the counter and call it decoration."

Heavy duty

I'm not sure about smaller jars, but I have some 16 oz jars that it fits into no problem! Easy to clean, easy to use.

I bought it for my kimchi pounding and it does the job perfectly. I like that the 2 ends are made to fit wide and narrow mouth mason jars. It’s sturdy, washes up well without lingering kimchi smell. Highly recommend as I see no issues with it. Great value for money.

Thsi is a 200 series stainless, according to my test kit.200 series is not resistant to acids, as far as i know, and is not prefered for kitchen use.I do wish the sellers would be forthcomming and specify it as 200 series stainless. Just for being honest and complete for disclosure purposes. I would still buy it. But for someone else, it may be a red line. So just let the buyer make that decision for them selves.However, i am glad to have it for a descent price. Not everything is acidic. And even if something is mildly acidic, and is done quickly, probably it is ok to use.One could use a wooden tool instead. But i feel like it can soak up the liquids. So i like to have a metal one.But i did not know this was 200 series stainless. I used it and did not wash it because it was late. It had some rust spots on it. The tust spots cleaned out with a little "elbow grease". But this means that in the future i will need to wash it right away.I like that it has 2 different diameters. Sometimes you want to cover more area to go faster, and other times you want to concentate more power in one hit. The diameters are properly sized for both options.It is not very heavy. That is nice: you get less tired.It would be nice if manufacturer provided cover for both ends, which could be used to soften the blow back into your palm. But i don't use it too often, so it is ok.The length is probably just right for most people. For me, i would have loked it a few inches taller. But it is a good compromise. If i am crushing a few walnuts into small pieces, i don't need it even this long. But if i am working with a deep 15 quart pot, it could use a few more inches. Anyway, it works for both options. So, as said before, a good compromise.Overall, it is a usefull tool.

I was using my fist to smash the sauerkraut into the jars, but this thing is a game changer. Very high quality tool.

This is a nice tamper for anyone trying to match a chrome/silver kitchen theme. I do pickling and fermenting, so I use it enough to get my money's worth. It's sturdy without being too heavy. There aren't multiple parts to it, so it won't come apart or get damaged during washing. Simple and sleek.

This stainless steel sauerkraut pounder is excellent. It is better than the previous wooden one that I had purchased. It washes easily and seems easier to sanitize. It is also of a good weights and makes the task of pounding cabbage much easier.

Must have for fermentation process. The lightness of the product for the length was impressive. It's light as and has 2 different sizes on both ends. Can be used for different size jars and also for general use. No worries with regards to longevity Recommended without hesitation

If you make sauerkraut or any fermented foods this is a must have. I researched extensively to find something that was non toxic for acidic food and found this gem. It works amazing.
