Fiddes Satin Finish Hard Wax Oil 1 Litre, Clear

Used this to re-vamp our wooden worktops after card scraping and sanding. It’s easy to apply and gives instant wow factor, the worktops look like new. Great satin finish, just enough shine. The first coat dried within 4-5 hrs, second coat much quicker. Don’t use expensive brushes as it’s quite sticky and takes a long soak in white spirit to clean them. Thoroughly recommend to use wax oil rather than Danish oil for a tougher finish in a busy kitchen.

Recommended this product by vintage furniture restorer, absolutely spot on to apply, de nib the first coat, apply a second for a superb smooth finish.

Easy to use great finish

Applied to a wood kitchen worktop. Unlike a lot of similar products that I have used where one has to remove surplus whilst wet before applying a second coat, with this one there is no need. Very smooth to apply and is dry in 4-6 hours when you can apply the second coat . Brush marks disappear, but if you find that you have missed a bit, you will have to correct it very quickly otherwise the brush will drag on the surrounding surface and these results will not go away. Lovely sheen on the finish but despite claims of the finish being hard wearing, minor scratch marks are easy to see. Nevertheless, it is a product I can recommend,

This is a great product to use and has made our pine doors look beautiful once more. It doesn't colour but maybe darkens very slightly. Best used with a special brush for oiling, it dries quickly and only sometimes needs a second coat. It does smell rather strongly and, unless you keep windows open, may give you a headache. It is also best used quickly; we oiled half of our doors and then left it for a few months (we had a long term guest and didn't want to knock them out with the smell) but when we opened it again, it had hardened so we had to buy another can - this is the only reason I've knocked off one star for value.

This is so easy to use providing you do the prep first, there are lots of You Tube videos to guide you which if you follow ensures you get a really good finish. I used it on some beech work surfaces in the kitchen which had seriously seen better days but the Fiddes wax has bought them back to life. The only thing that I did differently to the online instructions was to use a 240 grade sandpaper between the penultimate and last coat. It was suggested that 120 be used but I think that I have a much better finish using the former ( I did try 120's first). I'm really happy with the new look work surfaces.

This is more like a thin varnish and is easy to apply following the instructions. It’s essential to rub down gently between coats and to make sure all dust is carefully removed with a tack cloth before recoating. Amazing results and very durable. Best stuff for the job in my opinion
