I've only used it a couple of times so far but it seems to work just fine. Once it's at the temperature you want it seems to maintain that while your frying.

How much oil dose it take

The capacity is 4.5 Liter approx. 1.2 US Gal.

Are there heating coils in tbe bottom of the fryer or foes the entire unit heat up for cooking?

It coils at the bottom attached to the temperature gauge and fryer. It heats up really quick and stays hot. The only thing i really don't like is the timer. You'll have to turn the timer on to turn the fryer on and you'll have to manually turn it off to shut down the fryer off unless you unplug the unit and you'll still have to turn the timer off. But other than those small details its a good fryer

How can i order just the cord?

I would think you could contact the maker of the product, even go on line. You should be able to purchase the cord from them.
