Love is a pain. Just look at the cost: embarrassment, self-doubt, jealousy...making yourself emotionally vulnerable. If JUNJO ROMANTICA wasn't such a consistently funny romantic comedy, this show about our self-created obstacles to happiness would be painful to watch.Well, comedy is built on painful subjects. Exhibit A: Misaki Takahashi, our POV character, who evolves over the course of three seasons from an awkward, closeted teenager into an awkward, closeted adult. Exhibit B: Akihiko Usami, monstrously eccentric author and inhabitant of planet Usami, brought to earth by an "unremarkable" college boy. More than the age and class differences between them, it's their mutual assumption that keeping silent is the same as keeping the peace that trips them up over and over again.It's high comedy with real emotions bubbling just beneath the surface. No wonder it's so easy to love this show.

日本版のDVDボックスは持っているのですが英語版も欲しくて購入しました。作品自体は良いので星５つとします。ただし、こちらのブルーレイは日本のブルーレイプレーヤーでは全く映りませんでした。ブルーレイのリージョンAはアメリカ・日本と共通なので視聴できると思ったのですが「アメリカ・カナダのみで視聴可能」と書かれた画面のみ映りました。北米版のジブリのDVD（ブルーレイではなく）はパソコンで視聴できたので、一応パソコンでも試みましたが、ディスクを認識すらしてくれず視聴不可でした。残念ですが返品しました（返却はとてもスムーズでした）。あとでネットで調べたら数年前からリージョンAのブルーレイでもアメリカ国内のみでしか視聴できないもの（特にアニメ）が多く作られるようになっているそうです。ちなみにこちらのブルーレイは外側のパッケージに made in Mexico (メキシコ製)と書かれていました。
