2 Cats, 2 continents, 3 rolling litter boxes
treasure hunting in the cat box is so tedious, smelly and difficult, we once put our son on box cleaning as punishment for neglecting his schoolwork. My husband found this litter box in the US, in a large size, and we have happily been using it for over 4 years. We have 2, one in use and the other in cleaning or stand-by. I didn't put one of them in our airfreight for our year in London. I had been led to believe our flat had 3 baths and was planning on using box in 3rd bath. So, arrived, couldn't find that 3rd bath. Had to put litter tray, the open kind, in main living area. I don't want to see or smell what the cats leave in the box and I was getting both, and way too close to where I was eating. I found this rolling box on Amazon UK, not realizing it was smaller than our US versions and ordered it. Husband thinks smaller fits better anyway, just need to roll it more often. I highly recommend Litter Purrfect brand litter to use in it. We can go about a month, rolling and adding litter as needed between box cleaning. The box has a screen on the side, roll box towards handle and clean litter falls through screen whilst dirty bits stay on top, continue rolling it towards handle, to upside down, and the dirty litter falls into a removable tray. Pull out the tray and dump into garbage. In US, I'd pick a carrier bag, check it for holes, dump tray and then put in our large outdoor wheelie bin. Roll box back to right side up and past to get litter back into cats' part of box. A few cons, but not insurmountable: the plastic tabs that hold the top & bottom together tend to fail after long use. Replace with metal bolts and wingnuts. As the tabs fail, litter will spill from the back. Make sure the parts fit together tightly and tape the removable tray side edges with masking tape to keep litter in. If your cat doesn't care for a covered box, he probably won't like the Omega. I think it's the perfect litter box, sorts out the nasty bits on its own, hides them from sight and a quick dump of the tray into a bag (no holes or you'll trail cat litter across the floor!), add litter as necessary and clean occasionally. notes after returning from London: -use the finest grained CLUMPING litter only. If you can get to a Costco, Litter Purrfect clumps hard & fast, even the wetter poo. The disastrous week or two in London using large grained litter in a lined, open tray resulted in the liner being coated in a smelly urine sludge that would not scoop out. Good litter was hard to find, Sainsburys had a good but expensive brand and not always in stock. -the large box is best for adult cats and I would get one even larger if it was made. -to clean, we take it outside, take it apart, dump used litter in heavy duty bin liner and spray all parts with spray bleach. Let sit. Hose off and/or add more bleach & let it soak. Hose off well. All the stuck on bits go away, no scrubbing. Let air dry. Best to have another box for cleaning unless you want to do it all in one go and wipe it dry. -it is a bit fiddly to put together sometimes, but I have rheumatoid & even my hands can get the job done. -taping is _crucial_ duct, masking, something unique to UK but tape the seams. -bang on the bottom of box when rolling to dislodge any stuck on clumps and prevent a mountain of wee & litter - one of my cats likes to wee in the exact same spot. I'm sure the guys in the flat beneath ours wondered about the thumping at midnight. -highly recommend

Much easier and much less smell than a traditional tray!
I have tried both open and flap trays/boxes in the past. I currently have a little kitten who is able to hop in and out of this easily. He's about 10 weeks old now. Catsan clumping litter works great with this tray. It clumps the waste and after you've turned it over, you just pull out a drawer and bag it/whatever you normally do with your cat's waste. There is no smell off this tray even though it doesn't have a flap or carbon filters. I'd just say - remember to top up the litter as the clumping litter means it does go down a bit when you empty it and kitties do like to dig around. I just tilt it back and tip some extra in. Some of the other reviews say it is poorly made but I disagree. It's about the same as any other moulded plastic product. I can't see any problems with the plastic locks if you make sure they're fully back before you take the top off. Just be careful with it as you would with anything made of plastic. Also, I'd say it's very easy to clean. I like to use disinfectant wipes once a week for a full clean. Make sure you let it dry or wipe it dry before you put more clumping litter in or it will stick to the dampness! Overall, I think this is a really good product - I've had 4 cats over the years and have tried lots of different styles of tray/box etc. I like this the best and living in a 2 bed apartment I can't afford for there to be any smell. UPDATE: This has been in use a month now. Really easy to deal with, still no smell even though my cat is some sort of poo machine! No quality problems - all locks intact. Really pleased with it. UPDATE FEB 2016: Box is still going strong, has been in constant use since purchase. The quality is great, all locks still intact etc. no parts have failed :-)

Not without its problems
The idea is great makes an horrible job a little less unpleasant I really couldn't go back to a rack and shovel. You need to experiment with different types of clumping litter as some can be very stubborn and will just stick to the bottom, tried sainsburys, pets at home and various branded all didn't work too well, Tescos clumping has been by far the best where the others fail with this system Tescos seems to stick far less aggressively to bottom. Why one star? The construction is weak, the design problem lays with the sifting part, the sifting piece is a one part affair that folds to form a right angle in the inside of the box. I say folds because that exactly what it does, no hinge just ultra thin score in the one piece sifting part. As you can imagine you will need to regularly clean the box and its inners. Over the space of the 3 months I've had it the score in the folding siv is slowly turning into a detachment you can clearly see the stressed plastic in my photo. The catches are weak, you have three of them to keep the top bolted to bottom. To sum up Pros Great concept Good removal of waste providing it doesn't get stuck Cons Weak design it will not last long. Rubbish brittle plastic. You need to experiment with brands of litter To expensive for a throwaway litter box Weak catches ****Update**** Amazon customer service first class no fuss, replaced my broken litter box. Thank you Amazon.

Omega Paw Roll'n Clean Self Cleaning Litter Box, Regular
bought the regular size as i only have one cat.it comes in 4 pieces and quite easy to assemble.the quality is not like super strong and perfectly made but it is definitely enough for what it is used for. pros: 1.easy to use,you slowly roll it 90degree till you see all the litter goes into the other side, then keep rolling a bit till all the clumps goes into the drawer side, then roll back and even up the litter.then you pull out the drawer and flush it into the toilet.30 sec it's done, nice and clean. 2. hygiene. you never need to touch the litter and the little drawer is good for all the waste my cat produces in a day.(but i still roll it twice a day)sometimes it stick onto the bottom and you just need to flap on the bottom while rolling. 3.if you are using a fine clumping cat litter, you almost don't need to change it, just top it up would do.i've got mine for 2 weeks and it has great odour control and i only toped up once. cons: 1.i assume it only works the best with clumping litter.anyone who thinks it doesn't work, you may wanna try to change your litter. i changed mine to 'the world's best cat litter-multiple cats' though i only got one cat. it works great with this litter box - all ways fresh and clean. 2.it is quite big overall yet the cat only have roughly half of the size to do its business, thus the regular size could be a bit small for adult cat.mine doesnt have room to cover and she now comes out directly and do the covering behavior on the carpet...=___=silly cat.and it also splits out a bit during the digging. 3.if your cat has loose poop ...it might stick on the side of the box...and you'll end up dissemble it and wipe clean but i only got that once, not a big deal comparing to all the convenience it brings me.so make sure your cat usually has healthy poop. 4.the side locks may not be strong enough to last long but i don't dissemble it very often(probably just once a month to clean it up) so i can live with that. overall,it definitely make cleaning and changing cat litter so much easier and i think it definitely worth a try.

Best product I've ever bought!
PROS *Contains smells better than an open litter tray *takes the chore out of cleaning the litter tray *almost an enjoyable job now! *despite the pictures the colour isn't bad at all *quick and easy (takes less than a minute) *The medium is big enough for my small Burmese *Contains cat litter pebbles better than open tray *easy for someone coming in to look after cat CONS *The slider catches that hold the box together are sometimes stiff to slide *may look big in a smaller house *is often out of stock in Uk(probably because it's so amazing) Do not let the cons put you off the best product ever invented for cats. It is worth every penny paid it makes it so much quicker for me to sort the cat litter out and I was very impressed by how much dirty litter it removed. Fantastic product, worth the price tag. Don't let any reservations you have out you off, you will not be disappointed once you use it for the first time!

Good idea, failed design...
Bought this litter tray as the other one we had broke. The previous one was a standard tray so I was excited at the prospect of a self cleaning litter tray! As far as the concept of it goes, I can understand the appeal. You tilt the tray on its side, the small litter particles go through the plastic mesh to a different compartment, and you're left with large clumped litter on the mesh, which is the waste, and all you have to do is remove that , throw it in the bag, and replace the mesh back into the litter box and you're all set to go! That's the idea. The design has really tried to make this a reality. However, unfortunately, there are a few flaws in it. Firstly, it relies on the fact that the clumps of litter will be dry and won't get stuck inside the litter box. That's not always the case. Regardless of how good a litter you use, sometimes the cats will dig really deep to urinate, and the litter will clump and get stuck to the bottom of the tray. That means when you tip it over, there will be clumps of litter stuck, that won't tip onto the side to get to the mesh. Therefore you'll have to use a scoop to deal with that. Secondly it relies on the fact that the cat's waste will be not be fragmented, and clumped in large enough pieces to NOT filter through the mesh with the rest of the clean litter. That hardly ever happens. There is always little pieces of clumped litter with waste that end up filtering through. So the clean litter ends up having bit and pieces of waste clumped litter in it. In both cases you have to go back and scoop it out. Finally, it is too small a litter tray for a medium size cat. I gave it three stars because the idea of it is nice, and it is a litter tray with a solid design, but not an effective one. I won't buy a similar product again as I always end up having to use the scoop anyway. I wouldn't really recommend it, as it's quite pricey and not a good value for money. I would recommend going back to the old fashioned large litter tray with scoop and bag!

Great - works well, twice as expensive as other lidded cat trays, but easy to use
Ideal - what a brilliant idea We have 2 cats who refuse to use the same litter box so extra litter cleaning duties for us. This item works really well. Easy to use, and not too heavy. It could do with a guide as to how much litter to put in, but it is easy enough to guess if you have been using litter trays for a while. To use: Simply open the lid, put the litter in, make sure the scoop tray with handle is in, close the lid and leave when it is time to clean the litter, simply roll to the left all the way (slowly), roll back to the right and a little further to the right to level the litter, the use the handle to remove the scooper tray and all the clumped wee litter and all the poop is in the scoop tray which can then be disposed of easily. There is s video on Amazon from another reviewer which shows how to do it too. No more sifting through stinky litter with a glorified kiddy spade, no more disturbing the litter which increases the smell, and no more dropping litter all the way to the bin. The handled scoop is solid, nowhere for the litter to fall out To Clean: The handled scoop is easy to clean when you want to. The lid and the base seperate and the solid filer / grill comes out too - so can be rinsed like any other cat tray. For those who have never used a litter tray with lid: My kittens were used to an open tray when they came to us, and wen straight into the closed litter tray ( another one, different to the Roll'n Clean) with no bother. When we decided to give the roll'n clean a go, they used it without any trouble. Caution: The unit is large - we bought the regular and it is about the size of a normal lidded cat litter box, however the internal space is smaller than the outside, due to the solid filtering mechanism, about a quarter smaller on the inside. This is fine for us, as we have one slim cat and one larger cat, so the slim one has no trouble using it. There is a Large option, which may be better for owners of Large cats - however I would count on the unit being much larger than the standard lidded litter tray, so be sure to have enough space. The hole is on the wide side of the box, not the narrow side, so the depth it uses is less, but hte width may be more than you are used to. It is very light, yet sturdy, and easy to roll, even with cat litter in. ANNOYED: I paid 29.99 for it, and it arrived really quickly - a couple of days, but I write a review right away only to find Amazon have discounted it to 25.43 (valid as of 26th September 2014 in the UK) It is still about 2x as expensive as other lidded cat litter trays, so perhaps you might wait until the technology is not so new and the price comes down ( already decreased by 18% in the last 5 days!)

AMAZING! Until the novelty wears off.
We've used this tray for almost a year now and loved it when we had a tiny little kitten producing tiny little kitten poo. Easy to assemble, plenty of room for her and seemed so easy, just roll and bin! It was definitely the best thing I'd bought for her and marvelled at how wonderful it was everytime it was emptied! A year later and I'm so sick of hoovering up all the litter she likes to kick out of the open door. I've also tried every clumping litter under the sun and every possible depth of litter in this tray and still it sticks to the bottom of the tray, then you roll it over so it can stick to the roof and the sides and get stuck in the grate. Maybe my cat likes to dig a hole and poo directly on the base so she can laugh at me on my hands and knees banging on the bottom to unstick it. But then the smell increases as the residual poo builds up all around the tray and in all the little notches and you're forced to pull it apart and scrub the whole damn thing. We have a large tray so this is an out door job with lots of hot water and a scrubbing brush. Basically I've had enough, the novelty wore out and I'm just going to give up and buy a standard tray with a door that I can put a bag in. (Scoop up bag and chuck it in the bin. Sounds easier than all this rolling lark!)

I can clean litter in like 20 seconds now
It saves a lot of time to be honest, I can clean litter in like 20 seconds now. So it is recommendable. The only area of improvement is that there isnt any place for ventilation.. so for hygiene you will need to wash the box once a month or it starts to smell. Over all good product, very convenient.

Worth every penny!
For anyone trying to decide on whether or not to buy this, here is my opinion. We unexpectedly went from zero to 4 cats in 2 years. Each one being a sickly stray kitten we saved and decided not to re-home. This is home. Now, all grown up, I had 3 LARGE litter boxes that were impossible to keep clean. (I could be scooping and the cats would hop right in and do their business on the other side.) These boxes are thin plastic, so use common sense when handling them. They have a much smaller area for the cats to use, but for as easy as they are to clean, no prob Bob. I sprayed some non stick cooking oil on the bottom, poured the litter, and presto. Morning and night we just roll em up on their tops, shake a little, and back. Empty the tray and done! I'm about to buy 2 more for other areas of the house, no one would even guess it's a litter box from the looks of it, kinda nice. Basically, don't abuse it, it's not meant to be spun like a bowling ball, and they seem to work quite well. Definitely, hands down easier to keep clean.

Omega roll litter tray
Product itself is great. Plastic clips are a bit fiddly to close at some points as the plastic covers are easily moved out of place Over all handy and effective
