I’m a woman using these men’s five-blade razors, and honestly, they’re some of the best razors I’ve used. They give me an incredibly close shave and catch those very fine, short hairs that a lot of my other razors leave behind. My skin feels extremely smooth afterward. I especially love how effortlessly the blades glide across my skin. There’s barely any pulling or resistance, and sometimes it almost feels like I’m not shaving at all. The handle is comfortable to hold, feels durable and well made, and the cartridge actually stays securely attached. I’ve used other razors where the blade constantly pops off the handle, and I haven’t had that issue with these. My only complaint has absolutely nothing to do with performance. I just wish they made the same exact razor in a women’s version, or honestly just offered more handle colors. Give me pink, white, beige, or even a simple neutral option! I’ve tried women’s alternatives, including Amazon Basics, and they just haven’t performed the same for me. At this point, I may end up buying these replacement blades and finding a compatible handle in a color I actually like because I don’t want to give up how well these shave. Pros: * Excellent for women too * Catches extremely fine, short hairs * Gives a very close shave * Leaves my skin incredibly smooth * Glides effortlessly across the skin * Comfortable, sturdy handle * Cartridge stays securely attached * Durable and well made * Excellent performance for the price Cons: * Marketed and styled specifically for men * Would love more feminine or neutral handle colors Overall: I love these razors. The performance is significantly better than several women’s options I’ve tried, and they’re well made, comfortable, and reasonably priced. My one request is simple: please make this exact razor in pink, white, or a neutral color. I want the same performance, just with a handle that doesn’t look quite so obviously like a men’s razor.

I am stunned by all the shaving culture diatribe. I am 47 years old and have been actively shaving for more than 3 decades. That beautiful beard of mine is something that I maintain for about 5 months per year. From a clean shave to 3 weeks of not shaving it is fully in, but for length. Point is, I grow a thick beard, fast. Now, 7 months out of the year I shave that thick, fast growing beard, along with my entire head and neck - clean. Until a few years ago I did this every day and wore a suit as a practicing attorney (I'm now blessed with my days filled with homeschooling my kids, working heavy machinery to make pasture for a developing farm, and generally staying out of public). In ALL of these years I barely ever thought about how "enjoyable" my private-"me"-shave time was, or how special and pampering my equipment was. Fact is, I'm a fair-skinned white guy with thick facial hair and moderately sensitive skin. I used the regular progression of Gillette razors and marveled at how many blades were being added to my cartridges (I'm waiting for the "Razor Washcloth" where you wipe your entire face, etc. with a cloth covered in 1,000 razors that spin, wiggle, gyrate and sing Elvis songs for your most enjoyable 3 minutes per morning rush). One day I heard about man-shaming, corporate-s'plaining from Gillette and assessed my shaving costs. Here's my set up: razor + Lever 2000 that I wash my entire ... me ... with. That's it. Lever is pennies per week, Gillette ...??? Why was I so heavily invested in this company, were there good alternatives I mused? Hence my introduction to all this panty-wasted shave-culture gibberish (stick with me to hear support for this conclusion). I nearly got completely freaked out by considering a new razor. I imagined chunks of my tender flesh on the shower floor due to unknown shaving follies, calls to the fire department to please put out this unbearable burning, and aliens just saying "ahhh, screw it, let's stop wasting time and 86 these puny life-forms; this guy's shaving mishaps have completely caused us to loose faith of any redemption for the bugs!" Seriously, the discussion was nearly crippling. Don't get me wrong, I lived for years in Chicago area group homes, etc. with some black guys who really had to take care with their products or they'd get some bad ingrowns, etc. But these were the outliers, NOT the norm out of all the guys I've known in nearly half a century! Finally, I overcame internet-info-overload and picked this razor (Solimo 5 blade). It arrived and I found myself comparing it closely to the Gillette - STILL due to the online discussions. I'd say the docking mechanism on the Gillette seems stronger (although I don't normally engage in Fencing with my razor, no matter the make), and the back of the Gillett cartridge doesn't have the additional horizontal support that the Solimo does (which then catches some additional debris - but, I just don't take out my unsightly razor and show it off to guests anyway so ... meh). Shaving ... IT SHAVES! Like ... a RAZOR!!! I got a few tiny pinpoint knicks by my lip the first time or 2 because it's not identical to the Gillete I was used to, but by use 4 or so, I don't notice any big difference to shaving with my Gillette. And I've been shaving my head, neck, and face with this thing (meaning the same, 1st cartridge) for over 5 weeks now. Also, I hang the thing in my shower. I don't rub it on fancy pads. I don't blow it out, fluff it, polish it, sing to it, or coddle it in anyway. I grab this servile hunk of plastic, thrust it under the water and start unceremoniously scrubbing my many areas of skin with it in generally rough and crude fashion until I am slick and smooth as the day I was born and then rinse off, towel off and start putting out all the proverbial fires that my 4 young kids have started up while I dared take 5 minutes in the shower. Seriously, my process is: wash the body; rub Lever 2000 soap suds on head, neck and face; grab razor hanging on shower wall and stick under water; drag that thing unjudiciously this way and that way with and accross the hair grain on my head; finish head with reapeated little scrubbing actions (like rubbing adhesive off a table with your finger tip) against the hair grain to get the skin really smooth; repeat all of this with the face; judicious and sensible force and motion on my neck - come on now, I'm not a beast. And that's it. And after more than 5 weeks of this I was still getting ... o.k. results with my very first Solimo cartridge. BUT, being so cheap I ended up switching out to a new one today because there's no reason not to. The new blades didn't nick me once - so, I've adjusted my technique. I noticed the greater efficiency with the new blade, but my gosh, seriously this has got to be number 47,953 in importance out of the top 45,000 important things in my life. So, now that I've finished my journey down this rabbit hole, my conclusion is the Solimo is fine (as are most other shaving products, likely) and the shave-culture is a panty-waisted thing. Just one beast's opinion. Update 3/3/21: It's been a couple of years now and I'm still using the same system. This is nuts, but I believe I've only changed the head 5 or 6 times (tops) in that time. I did add one additional "trick" to what I do. I keep a spent toothbrush in the shower and give the razor head a little back and forth scrub before I shave and once during the shave (usually when I'm finished with my head and move to my neck, then face). Otherwise, every single thing I said above remains my experience. My wife even converted on those sweet, smooth, soft legs of hers and I'm fine with Solimo's results there too (and, let's be honest, if I'm not going into the office, or before a judge, the smoothness of her legs is FAR more important to me than that of my noggin', neck, or mug). Thumbs up and recommendations for Solimo 2 years after switching from "Girllete".

Excellent value for money and a very practical everyday razor. The 5-blade design gives a close, smooth shave, while the dual lubrication helps reduce friction and improves comfort. The MotionSphere handle moves easily around facial contours and provides good control and flexibility. The grip feels secure, the blades have good sharpness, and the overall quality and durability are very good for the price. Easy to use, comfortable on the skin, and a dependable low-cost option.

Amazon you magnificent bastards, how have you managed to sneak in as become one of the best economic cartridge razors I've ever used. For a bit of background if you've read some of my other reviews, I'm a bit at war with the shaving industry. I've used multiple different types and brands of razors and to put it politely, they all suck.Now for many years I've been using the famous Dorco brand for their reliability and price. Sadly with the passing years Dorco, while still a good price, have some diminishing reliability resulting in them being inconsistent. I'd have one set that worked find only to open a new pack of 4 and find that I need to use two razors just to finish a standard shave. With Dorco razors being a coin flip on the 'almost completely dull' scale I had to look for something else and behold Amazon making their modest little Basics-5. With 16 razors and handle all while boasting a price a few dollars cheaper than Dorco and I just had to try it out. Surprise, this little eco razor was AMAZING. While a bit on the light side the razors are amazing sharp and smooth resulting in a fast smooth shave every time. No more hacking at my face 6 or 10 times to shave a spot, no more 1 razor (or even 2 in some cases) per a shave, no more feeling like I want to delay shaving because its become more a chore than a basic hygiene maintenance. This is exactly the thing you actually want from companies. Someone who looks at the competition, saw they were doing nothing to meaningfully change or improve their product, and just goes in there hacks all the useless bells and whistles and just just makes a better product that is cheaper too. My only complaint, I find the 'MotionSphere' which is just fancy talk for a bit of a swivel head that allows the razor to bend and change angles a bit... fidgety. It feels fragile at times and as anyone who has used cartridge razors before you know that sometimes you just don't snap that sucker in right so the razor will fall off. The swivel kind makes it a hassle to get it back on. I found the only way I could do it was to snap the razor back in the clear case it came with and 'plug' the handle through that. Otherwise the thing just didn't want to attach any other way. Outside of that, amazingly solid razor for a cheap price.

I shave my head and face 3 x per week. I typically use Gilette blades and get around 6 weeks out of a blade before it starts to 'drag' across my scalp. The first few weeks the shave is almost frictionless, very smooth and comfortable. But the price for refill blades 'feels' high. Honestly for the amount of usage I get per blade, it's not- but I was still interested in alternatives. I tried buying some blades from a subscription service a while back. Those blades could have been in a Stephen King novel- they had a taste for human flesh... After being scared back to name brand blades for a few years, I recently picked up some off brand look-alike replacement blades that were being sold on Amazon. Came in packaging that looked very similar to the real deal, had a very similar look but were obviously made over seas and packaged to be direct replacements for half the price. Those blades dragged across my scalp like I was trying to shave with a pine cone. The blades were not jagged, they were just DULL. Apparently they were so bad that by the time I tried to review them, they no longer existed as something that could be reviewed. *They are still being sold, just not the specific set that I purchased. Be aware. I decided to just bite the bullet and purchase the ones I felt were overpriced but perform very well. Saw that Amazon has their own brand. I've purchased a lot of Amazon Basic items over the years, and figured I'd give them a shot. They actually solve a problem I didn't really have. They cost about half price from the name brand, and they shave really well. They are not as sharp and smooth as the name brand razors, I don't want to sell them as that- but they feel good, and have minimal skin drag. I do not think I'll get 6 weeks out of each blade, but I'm confident that I can get at least a month. For comfort I rate them a 4, but I'm adding a star for the value proposition. Cheaper and almost as good as the big boys. I'm good with that, and will repurchase in the future.

I got tired of paying the outrageous prices for Gillette blades. Even at Costco where you have to buy a ton at one time, the Fusion blades run about $2.62 each on sale. As much as I’d like to say these are just as good, they are not. I would rate them “good enough”, but not great. The Gillette blades feel sharper and smoother from the get go, and they last a lot longer. These blades are OK for the first few shaves, but then I found the blades got dull. I started to feel pull on the hairs when shaving. I am going to keep these, because they are “acceptable” and a good value for the money. Once I finish, I am going to fork the money out and stay with Gillette. I tried Harry’s with similar results. I guess there is a reason why Gillette can charge almost what they want.

Very nice razors for the price. I have no complaints about the shave quality. My only complaints are the side with the single blade used for precision trimming is dangerous and doesn't work well for me. I tried using it around my nose and it cut me. It may be OK for edging longer hair on sideburns but stay away from delicate areas. Also, not a fan of the handle. Too many curves and contours going on so every time change shave angles, you have to stop and figure out how to best get a grip on it. And it should be all rubber coated, not a mix of both. Just one tubular rubber coated handle with no slip grips would make this razor the best.

Thoroughly impressed with the shave. I use my old toothbrush to clean the razor during shave and after shave to keep a clean shave blade. Once you do this (to any razor really) then you'll never stop, since any buildup of hairs in the blade reduce efficacy. One thing I hate is switching blades isn't easy to do, as you have to fiddle a little and hold the eject button to install new cartridge, and it's not colour coded so it might be upside down if you're not paying attention. Other than that, I highly recommend based on value as these are inexpensive per cartridge. Switched away from the 6blade dollar shave club and Gillette fusion series. Glad I did.

Absolutely amazing razor As a women even tho its made for men It leaves my legs feeling extremely smooth No iritation or cuts. And does the job quickly with its 5 blades The look, feel and quality is perfect Blades last a long time before having to replace it. Given the amount of refils that came with it. I absolutely recommend this product to anyone. For the cost it is by far a great deal . I will definitely purchase again

The price for name brand 5 blade razors seems like price gouging so I decided to give these a try. They are excellent value for the money, I am very happy with this razor system. They are not quite as good as the name brand razors, the handle is not as solid and well built. The razors dont have the flip down edge to trim close like the name brand. The shave is better than 3or 4 blade razor but not quite as good as the name brand razor but for the price I am sticking with these. My guess as to why there are bad reviews is likely due to quality control, they may have improved the QC or I received a good set. With something like razors one bad blade is too many, if that happens I will revise my review. Also, at the time I wrote this review you can only buy this kit, you can't buy blades or handles separately. But for me this is fine, the handle is not as solid as the name brand razors so I would prefer to replace the handle. I dont shave every day so this kit will last me a long time.

I was using "Edge" razors before I found these and let me tell you, night and day difference. These razors knock them out of the water!! I will never go back. Not only are these razors more cost effective buy they keep me sooth much longer than my other ones did. These are my new go-to razors :)
