What is the difference between the collectible version versus the regular edition?

There isn't a difference in the game. In the case of my collectible listing, it was damaged (as described) but not used and so Amazon wouldn't allow it to be listed as "used" so I used "collectible." I can't speak for the other collectible listing out there.

Is it great for 2 players (without the automa)?

Yes. It's a very good 2-player game.
