Why does the best buy date say february 2018? why are they selling it if it’s expired?

They shouldn’t sell it if it expired

Why is salt in this product?

Howdy GGA very good question and I don't have an answer. I will not buy it anymore as it is very expensive. I am in the process of trying to find out who actually manufacturers their products. All three of my feline partners in life like the dry grain free hearty chicken but it is not cheap. Sure wish I could help you. If you find out, would you please let me know. In the list of ingredients is natural flavor, is this actually msg? most of us have come to believe "natural flavoring" really means msg.

Chinese Restaurant Syndrome has not been scientifically proven: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/318589.php Funny thing is that MSG was invented in Japan, not China (sure, we all look alike). It's made of natural ingredients (seaweed, sugar cane, etc). https://www.fda.gov/food/food-additives-petitions/questions-and-answers-monosodium-glutamate-msg. That said, just as any natural food item, such as nuts or shellfish, it's possible that individuals may develop allergic reactions. And we (I'm Japanese) grew up eating MSG (and my pets got leftover), and Japanese women have the longest life span in the world (and my cat lived 23 years eating my leftover).

Is this pate or chucks? My cat hates pate.

Dear Consumer, Thank you for coming to us with your question. The Indoor Salmon recipe is a pate. Now, our Halo Holistic Grain Free Salmon Recipe for Adult Cats canned recipe has a higher moisture content and it's a smooth consistency.
