It is so hard to find a simple, informal dress. It is also so hard to find a dress with sleeves that is informal, and one long enough that you can kneel down to open gifts with kids without showing all your business. I also carry my weight on my butt/hips, and this is plenty roomy, I don't feel self conscious at all! I will probably wear a slip with it since the fabric is a bit thin. I also love that I can dress it up with a beaded belt and heels or dress it down with knee boots and a scarf. I already have 3 events planned for this dress. For sizing reference I usually wear a small/medium top and size 8 bottoms.
