Amazing - will be buying more!!!!
I love this little thing so much. It works with every single one of my phantom powered microphones, and it seems to boost the quality, by providing better amplification than the preamps built into my zoom H4 essential recorder. So not only do you raise the volume, but you also give a lot more separation between the audio and the noise floor. I put the inline amplifier right by the microphone, and then have the cable running to the mixer or recorder. This way it boosts the signal before it is transmitted and is less likely to pick up noise . This thing works really well, and I will buy more as I need them for my ever expanding setup. Highly recommend to anyone looking to improve their existing microphones and recording setup.

Works well on my AT2035
Does the job at providing preamp for my AT2035. I have it connected to a Steinberg UR22 mk2, before I used to have to crank the gain on the Steinberg interface almost all the way up to get acceptable levels, causing the audio to lose some quality. With the Fethead hooked up, I barely need to turn the interface gain halfway to get the same levels, resulting in better quality. Normally I would've expected the opposite to happen with the Fethead increasing the noise floor, but that doesn't seem to be the case (at least to my ears).

Works perfect
Makes my condenser sound perfect. Before I had a lot of noise. None now and the tone of it seems to be a lot better. For those who say the connection is loose then only connect it to cables and not the mic. Mine fits my cables nice and snug. Love it. I have a Cloudlifter for my ribbon and dynamics but this for my condenser is great. I also have an Aston Stealth with built in boost.

Performs As Expected!
This is a phantom powered, in-line, microphone preamp. Its sole purpose is to boost the output of your passive dynamic microphone about 18-20db. I have found this device to be excellent with newer-style dynamic mics that tend to have a "hi-fi" sound to them. These mics are usually a tad hotter than normal and have a slightly "scooped" sound to them. Ex: Behringer XM-series... nice entry-level dynamic mics with a modern sound. This is not for condenser microphones! There is no phantom power pass-through. I personally prefer the Cloudlifter CL-1 for very quiet mics like a Shure SM57. The CL-1 puts about about 5-7db more boost. Same with the EV re20... CL-1 seems to be a better option. However, the Fethead is still very good and at $50 cheaper is a good value in comparison to the CL-1. The design doesn't require two mic cables so if you are on a budget, that is another slight cost savings.

Functions as Intended, Build Quality Lacking
This Triton FetHead Phantom worked as intended for me. It raised the dB coming from my microphone. This little preamp can be attached to the microphone, between to cables, or attached to the interface. It seems to function the same regardless of location placed. You may find this useful if you don't want to risk the slight chance of handling damage that may come from moving you mic a lot if you're in a situation where that is a concern. Alternatively, you may be on camera and the aesthetic just doesn't suit a certain location in your audio chain. For me, it loses a star due to minor damage / a manufacturing fault. When attaching the device to my xlr cable, the pressure applied caused the collet to come loose. This isn't major damage and doesn't affect how the device functions. Although, this may speak to the build quality. I may have just been unlucky with the one I received and it can be fixed with some new adhesive. Either way, this is a nuisance for me and may be for some buyers.

Rode NTG2 + Zoom H6n + Triton Audio Fethead Microphone Preamp = Great combo for low budget Indie Films
Rode NTG2 and Zoom H6. This really improves the signal to noise ratio. Like it says its 20 db and although I could not measure it with gear, the difference is I can set levels on the Zoom H6 at 5 maybe 6 versus 7 to 8. So the noise is at the level 5 versus 7. Get it? VERY noticeable. I am so glad I got this. I am mainly keeping the H6 plugged in for power so I don't know about battery drain yet. I do know for as a complete audio package for less than $1000 this is very good. I had read on Triton's website they recommended this type for the NTG2 and H4n so it seems they are right for the H6 too. I have not used higher quality digital recorders but my guess this is an incredible combination for the price. I am using it on a feature film where they hope there will be little to no ADR and I believe this will get the audio quality that is respectable for the low budget production. Should be suitable for most theaters (not IMAX of course). I am not hearing any noticable sound degradation either. It ships with a chart which shows a very flat The Audio Mixer we are using on the shoot was equally impressed. Over the next few months as the feature continues I should have more input from the different people we have using it. Edit: March 21, 2015 Edited H6n to read H6. This product was well received by several audio type pros and they liked it.

Compact inline preamp lowered noise floor of shotgun mic on H4N zoom recorder
Bought this pre amp to use with my Zoom H4N recorder. I am pleased with its performance and its ability to allow me to reduce input levels on my recorder to reduce and/or eliminate hiss. I noticed a significant reduction in noise floor when using a Boya PVM-1000 shot gun mic. I also tried it with an Audio-technica AT875R shot gun and found that through level adjustments I could improve its off axis rejection or make it really hot and extend its range. A nice side benefit I found that the FetHead acted as an adapter to allow me to connect the mic to the H4n without a cable. This makes for a nice compact hand held unit for capturing foley in the field

Dodatkowa zaleta, to możliwość wpięcia go bezpośrednio do wejścia XLR Zooma. Fethead jest robiony w Holandii i w cenie Amazona naprawdę warto go kupić.

The Triton Audio FetHead works very well with mics, which require more oomph. Most importantly, it is quiet and colourless. I purchased two of them and use both units with my ribbon mics. Pure sound, professional quality.
