I normally wear a size 18. Ordered the 2xl and it fit perfect. Bra size 40D. If you are much bigger then that in the chest area it may not fit so well. It does have lace up ties in the back to get a better fit. Wore this dress to the coronation of our pirate community King and Queen. Ever one love it and got so many compliments. You do need a large hoop skirt for this dress or it will be way to long. I am 5.5 and even with the large Pannier underskirt I needed to lift it a little while walking. Just skimmed the floor with heels on. The fabric is beautiful and the dress is well made. I would buy it again in a heart beat.

This gown is not steampunk, Renaissance, or Gothic style. (Sellers, please don’t use keywords in titles--especially misleading ones.) Good thing I didn’t want those! It’s actually more-or-less 18th century, closest to a “robe à l’Anglaise” style. Just what I wanted :-). Medium-purple, taffeta-look fabric is lightweight but not flimsy. Floral/vine design is flocked on. Solid black front has a touch more weight. Shipping creases steamed out well in two or three passes. Seam allowances and visible edges are serged (zig-zag stitched), not finished (no hems). Bodice has 12-inch invisible side zipper. Gown is well made--I wore it three times this Halloween season with no damage. I got XXL size for my very broad shoulders: they fit, and the back lacing hid extra fabric toward my waist. I’m 5'3" tall and wore flats, so hemmed the skirt about 7" or 8" (didn’t cut excess so I could re-hem and wear heels another time). Sleeves loose for period style but should fit larger arms; I made a tuck at the elbow inner seam. For period style I added embellishments: lace and pearls on bodice front, stiffener inside, gimp and braid on the ruffles, and lace cuffs. A hoop petticoat (not included) is essential for the period look, but skirt hangs well without one. Received many compliments!

This is a gorgeous dress and the price matches the quality. The color is accurate (I bought the red with the ribbons in the front and it truly is a dark, saturated ruby red). Beautiful black lace on the sleeves.The only issues I had with it is that the main skirt only has one thin layer (nothing underneath so I highly recommend wearing a hoop skirt which I did in this photo). The dress is very long and I was only able to not trip over it when wearing the hoop skirt. The first night I wore it for trick or treating, I only wore a fluffy underskirt that did not lift it off the ground enough, so I had to pick it up whenever I walked. Lastly, when I first tried this on I didn't realize how tricky it can be to get it on and off, so I ripped the lace on the arm and had to re sew it.I am 5'3", about 132 lbs, 30 inches or so around the waist and the medium fit perfectly with a little extra room. I have a small bust, size A bra, so I needed to lace up the back for it to fit tight.

This dress is breathtaking. I was a little worried about the quality but it is very well made. I ordered up a size thinking it may run small but I could've ordered my size. The arms and sleeves are pretty long for my 5'2" frame though. Only reason I took a star away is I ordered expedited shipping. Was supposed to arrive Oct 4th but arrived the 8th. I tried emailing the vendor to inquire but they only responded with "so sorry" no questions answered.

I loved this dress. I thought it was going to be a bad fit since I am a curvy girl and my measurements don't exactly fit the ones shown in the 2x, so I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best as I bought the 3x. I'm pleased to say that it was the right choice, the arms fit well, but are a tad long. I needed the hoop skirt since I'm 63 inches tall (5"5) while the length was 75 inches (I think) it drags a little bit as I walk, but that's fine as I can hem it or something.I didnt like the necklace that came with it, as it is too big for my neck so I'll recycle it and use it something else. Overall, pleased with my purchase. I have yet to wear it to the Renaissance Festival, but have foreshadowed that I will be very, very warm. But I'll be prepared! (Ps. Dont mind my face, my boyfriend doesnt know about my angles lol)

Update: The medium came (in one day) and it's perfect. I don't even think it will need to be hemmed as long as I wear heels (which is the plan). Very wrinkled (that can;'t be helped). Will have to find a way to unwrinkle it! Original review.......Ok so I ordered this in the blue and black. It came in one day. The quality is really good. It's not like a costume you'd buy in one of those halloween stores. Am looking for a masquerade/venetian carnivale dress. It's perfect as far as quality and look. Will have to be pressed in some way for sure. I fit squarely within the large on the size chart. 5'4", 33 inch waist (wide but thin), large hips at about 43/44 inches and a 37-38 chest, 145 lbs athletic. It was HUGE. I expected it to be long and it can be pulled tighter with the ribbon in the back. However, the shoulders are way wider (I am pretty broad shouldered) and the sleeves are super long for me though I DO have short arms. So, am sending back and have already ordered a medium. Sincerely hope it works. If it does, it'll be five stars! Thanks to the seller for getting it to me so quickly.

Beautiful dress, nice material however very large. I'm 5'6" and I needed to be a minimum of 4" taller - in the photo I even have on a petty coat to help fill out the skirt - maybe a hoop skirt would have been better. The piece around the neck was several inches to big also. I ordered to fit my bust (38DD) area which it did but swallowed me everywhere else. I'd suggest you plan ahead and order this dress with custom measurements as it is truly beautiful.

I didn’t unpack the dress because the color didn’t appeal to me. I was expecting a rich looking Emerald or perhaps Forest Green. That’s how it shows on both my phone and desktop. However, the dress is a very bright much lighter ( yellowish) green - almost neon ?
