Super-Tune a Handplane

I tend to like Mr Schwartz' writing a lot, but the video seemed a bit brief. I'm assuming a live presentation would be more entailed, as the audience would likely ask questions - provoking more discussion. However, all the steps were described clearly, even if briefly.

If you are know nothing about western plane, this is exactly what you need. Do not expect to find a subject about tuning a wooden bodied plane. If you are an expert, I doubt this book can give you something new. Christ explain step by step how to tune a handplane. By the end of the presentation I am sure you will be an expert!

This DVD by Christopher Schwarz is full of detailed instruction on getting the most out of any metal bodied handplane. I took two of my planes to new levels (quantum leap) of precision and effectiveness!

Good refresher. Most is just solid best practices with a couple worth while tips. Good presentation quality.

Excellent, I bought a vintage Stanley 4 1/2, tuned it according to the instructions and it is working nearly as well as my brand new Lie Nielsen 4 1/2 !

I always enjoy Christopher Schwarz's presentations and this one is no exception. again I find that just reading often leaves me with questions that only a visual explanation can explain.

An excellent, visual, detailed instruction how to restore a vintage Stanley/Record hand plane. The author also goes over set up hints for newer high quality planes from Veritas and Lie Nielson.

Great book

Herr Schwarz ist ja ein etwas komischer Vogel, der neben seiner eigenen Meinung ja nicht viel gelten lässt. So finde ich seine Ansichten über Hobelbänke etwas engstirnig. Hier ist es aber anders. Inhaltlich und von der Darstellung her ist die DVD klasse gemacht. Auch wenn man schon denkt fast alles über die Metallhobel zu wissen, findet man hier noch drei vier gute Tipps. Wer sich noch nicht gut auskennt, kann sich mit der DVD viel Lektüre sparen. Klasse gemacht!
