Hair loss was a common thing for me and I always chalked it up to my PCOS and just assumed there was nothing I could do since nothing else worked for me. However, I reached a point where I was pulling clumps of hair out of the shower, I was noticing balding along my frontal, and it was so upsetting for me. My husband was already using the apple cider vinegar version of pura d’or and he told me he felt there had to be more to it since I was getting nowhere and to just give this brand a try. I did just that and at first it was frustrating because it made my hair oily quickly which meant I’d have to wash my hair more often. But I decided to stick it out and see if it helped anyways. I’ve been using it for 3 months now and it has absolutely changed my life. Within 1 month I was no longer pulling clumps of hair out in the shower, and I was no longer shedding tons of hair while I brushed my hair in front of the sink. I’ve now reached a point of a normal amount of shedding. Additionally, I was combing through my hair and I noticed that I have some regrowth!!! Within just 3 months the hair I’ve lost is starting to grow back. My hair is also so silky and soft, it smells really good (the conditioner especially smells incredible). (2/26/24) i know i said id right a review 3 months from now (and i still will) but i wanted to mention that i’ve washed my hair twice now with this stuff and my hair is definitely feeling softer. like silky soft. i love it :) (6/27/24) sooo i finally caved and saw a curly hair specialist ($$$ 😮‍💨). i’ve only ever gotten trims—never a haircut. but my hair had gotten so long (past my butt) that all that weight pulled the curl out of my hair. plus, as i mentioned before, idk how to style my hair lol so i needed help from a curly hair specialist to figure out what the heck to do with my mane. i won’t belabor all the details she shared with me, but apparently *another* reason my curls were kind of limp was because of certain products i was using (like shea moisture leave in conditioner, for example). my hair in particular needs a water based, light, “airy” kind of moisture, NOT a heavy, oil-based product that would only cause my hair to lay flat. anyways, the hair stylist asked what shampoo/condish i used, and i showed her this, and she said that this would be good to use once in a while to “deep clean,” but that i shouldn’t use it on a regular basis. What I can comment on is that this shampoo has nearly clinical-strength Ketoconazole in it, which is very good for your hair and scalp. But I personally wouldn't use it more than 3-4 times a week (I use it 1 - 2 times a week) because it's a fairly strong amount. Also the 1% coal tar... both of these have virtually eliminated any eczema and dandruff that I had. Also, in past research, it seemed like other people have also lost hair (initially) when using some hair care products. Could it be that the dead or dying hair strands are sloughed off for new hair growth? I really don't know. But I can say, based on my personal use, this shampoo (in particular) is one of the best, most complete shampoos I've ever used. And I will personally continue to buy and use this wonderful product. That's what I do *by S***L on April 24, 2026* This has a very strong smell but if you want results you've got to put up with something. Sometimes I don't like I mean I don't mind the smell. If it's going to give me results I will say I love the conditioner. My hair is really shiny and feels so soft. I do leave it on. I wash my hair first. Of course when you get in the shower and I leave it on for a couple of minutes. While I do a couple of other things you know wash my face, do a little bit of shaving because I've had cancer. I my cancer medication cause a little bit of hair underneath my chin to grow. So I shave that take care of that and then after I do all that I rinse the shampoo out of my hair and then I put the conditioner on and I work that through my hair really well and then I wash my body. That's the two minutes that I leave it on then I rinse it off. I will say my I used to use the leave-in conditioner and it was fine. It was good but this makes my hair so smooth silky and shiny and that lasts for a few days. I don't use this daily. I don't believe in washing your hair everyday. I don't think that's healthy for your hair. I did notice today when I washed my hair. I keep a screen in the drain of the bathtub that there was less hair in the drain of the bathtub. Probably about half of what it used to be, so I think it's working. Yay! So I would recommend it if you aren't so sensitive to the smell. It is strong and I'm getting used to it.
