Platinum Aquarium Hand Scraper for Glass and Acrylic Tanks - 18"

I have 4 of these in various lengths. works great in all my tanks, Short ones for the nanos and long for the 90 and 125. Won’t scratch low iron or acrylic.

I saw some other tank scrapers on Amazon that were based on use of a single edged razor blade. While I imagine that they may be *slightly* more effective, I don't know about you, but I scrape the inside of my tank without first removing the fish. So... whipping a razor blade on a stick around the inside of your fish tank seems like a really bad idea to me. If you argued that this "Flipper" contraption is simply a well-made handle with a long extension for the "blank" credit card it comes with, you'd basically be right. On the other hand, it's sturdy, very well-made and works quite well. If you aren't worried about whatever soap residue or other chemicals are on your hands, and you aren't worried about what chemicals may be part of your old expired credit card's magnetic stripe or printing, you could just hold an old card in your hand and do the same thing free. I find that algae grows fast enough in my tank that I have scrape it once a week. So, while I wouldn't have minded if the Flipper had been a buck or two cheaper, I'm really comfortable with having purchased the Flipper. Last point: One reviewer complained that the card didn't always remove ALL of the algae with the very first scrape and that, sometimes they had to (gasp!) go back over a spot another time or two. If you feel that way, then use the dang razor blade. That issue aside, I've got to tell you that this thing is easy to use and I didn't find the effort required to be unreasonable in the slightest. (That other dude should probably give his fish away.)

I bought an 18 inch Flipper Platinum Aquarium Algae Scraper to remove both green and stubborn red algae from my 20 gallon high aquarium. I chose this plastic scraper because I did not want to risk scratching the glass panels. This tool was very effective in removing all forms of algae. I was also able to apply enough pressure to remove the red algae in a couple of strokes. It was way more effective than magnetic scrapers available from other manufacturers. The handle is well designed to maintain a good grip during use. Purchasing hint: Make sure you order a scraper that is longer than your aquarium is high to keep the handle completely out of the water while in use.

I recommend using a credit card instead of the card they provide with this scraper. For some reason their card just doesn’t clean as well as a credit card. I initially was disappointed with the product when using their provided card as it missed multiple spots when I would attempt to scrap. However, replacing it with a old credit card fixed that problem. One other thing I don’t like about this product is that the card holder is too wide beyond the width of the card so it’s difficult to clean the edges of the tank. Otherwise, for the price, anti-scratch and for keeping my hands dry when cleaning, it is a good buy and I highly recommend!

It does exactly what you need it to do, scrap algae gently off of your aquarium glass. And I love that you can change the "blade"; any standard credit card size card fits! I suggest getting a size bigger than what you think you'll need for easier leverage without having to put your hands in the water.

Using in a red sea 350 g2+, had a small 'stainless steel' razor scraper, it was always building up rust on the blades, making it hard to change, and despite being a stainless shaft, can tell it was low grade stainless as always having some minor surface rust. So replaced with this beast, long, sturdy, dont have to worry about any rust, and the plastic scraper does great. Dont have any fear of it accidently scratching glass, and more importantly, i'm a father of 2 toddlers, so I dont have to worry about them cutting themselves like my old razor unit. If you need something with extra depth, and a strong shaft, get this unit.

This scraper does not fit flat against aquarium glass ( or Acrylic Sides ) does a very poor job of scraping algae.

This item is probably better suited for acrylic tanks or fresh water setups, I have to scrub real hard to get daily algae growth on the glass removed. film algae is removed easily but other algae need something sharper like an actual blade.

It took me 5 minutes to clean each tanks glass to perfection. The card it comes with is literally just a credit card and works amazing. The whole thing is metal except the plastic clip for the card and the handle is a high quality rubber/silicone for perfect grip. And the angle is perfect not to move the water too much and stir up the gravel. This is honestly incredible and anyone who has an aquarium needs one

This is a very good product. No more scratches on the glass. No more wet arms when cleaning my aquarium. No more fish trying to eat my fingers.

Not for me. AI said it was good for small places, gets between glass and rock but sadly with a 1 inch space still no joy. Returned.
