Il libro ha il pregio di unire quelli che lui chiama ''idioms'' ai ''phrasal verbs'' e di indurre il lettore allo studio mnemonico dei vari significati di entrambi anche attraverso dialoghi ed esempi contestualizzati in vari ambiti della vita quotidiana. Ho constatato che per ''idioms'' l'autore intende anche semplici costruzioni grammaticali come ''in the end'', che sono spiegate molte volte nei testi di grammatica classica. Da questo punto di vista, lo sforzo degli autori è encomiabile, il libro in fin dei conti è unico nel suo genere , perchè riesce con questo stratagemma mnemonico a far assimilare all'allievo anche costruzioni grammaticali a volte semplici, altre volte meno semplici, in modo tale da ricondurre tutto ad una sorta di ''modo di dire'', imparato il quale egli non avrà più possibilità di errore.Utilissime anche le spiegazioni dei vari verbi fraseologici oltre che di questi ''idioms'', pochissime volte l'autore infatti fa sforzare il lettore alla ricerca di verbi o strutture non presenti nel testo ma presenti in un vocabolario monolingua ; encomiabile anche l'uso di disegni esplicativi che cercano di spiegare i significati più svariati dei vari termini.Unica pecca, se così vogliamo chiamarla è l'uso di lettere troppo piccole...avrei preferito pagine più grandi o cmq. lettere più grandi che rendono la lettura più agevole e naturale.Il volume che sto recensendo è l' ''intermediate'', ossia è consigliato ad un learner di livello B1 che voglia acquisire la piena padronanza lessicale propria di un B2.Il testo è straconsigliato a tutti coloro che vogliono migliorare la propria conoscenza della lingua inglese da autodidatti; basta fare una sola unità al giorno e nel giro di 2 mesi il livello del proprio inglese aumenta in maniera spropositata, certamente i principali verbi fraseologici saranno acquisiti e digeriti con un minimo di sforzo e di applicazione.Rispetto al testo della Cambridge ''English phrasal verbs in use'' in versione ''upper-intermediate'' questo libro è sicuramente di più facile lettura e comprensione, perchè risulta essere più intuitivo per un non madrelingua, anche se l'omologo testo Cambridge sicuramente mostra una quantità maggiore di verbi fraseologici e da certi aspetti è anche più completo.
