They will work on wood, but clean the surface first, as I also did in the showers. After 7 months of daily showers, about half of the strips have started to come unstuck so I peeled those off and threw them away. They are cheap enough to replace a couple of times a year. **Q: Can they be use on a boat floor?** A: I don't see why not. I've had them in my shower for a couple months and sticking just fine. They work great to prevent slipping and create grip on the floor! I would say my only complaint so far is some corners/edges and peeling up (but nothing that interferes with their effectiveness).
