A wonderful product but...
I saw this unique heater and thought it would be perfect for cold winter days/nights, as I like to sit outside on my patio enjoying a hot cup of coffee and cigar. The product is well built - heavy duty electrical wiring makes it possible to keep outside at all times. Each 'blade' folds down, so it's possible to close the heater and the umbrella both during high winds, snow, etc. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of light each blade puts out and with a feature that allows you to use 1, 2 or all 3 blades. Installation is simple, adjustments are easy and it fits almost all umbrella sizes. Superb engineering and design. The only disappointing feature is the limited amount of heat put out by each blade. In moderate climates, this heater would be sufficient to take the chill out. In colder climates (I'm in the DC metro area), this product by itself doesn't do the trick. I've combined it with a table-top heater to make this currently very cold winter bearable. Ultimately, because it's advertised as a heater, I have to say: if you live in colder climates, buyer beware.

works well enough
so far so good. others commented on the amount of heat. It does pretty well. it does not heat the space a lot, but does help warm the area around it a bit (deck temps being in the 50s and 60s). I sit not too far from it and it's a nice warmth. would be great if it kicked out more heat but it's better than other product I tried (hangs and looks like a ufo). I'm happy w this purchase, esp for the price and size and use of electricity vs propane. I like the look of it as well.It sits on pole of umbrella. in order for the umbrella to collapse though, the umbrella ribs need to bend upward. on my umbrella the only way to collapse it is for the neck ring to come down the pole which it cannot do with the heater in place. so...just be aware of that. in order for me to collapse the umbrella I have to lower the heater down on the pole (hope that makes sense).

Poor Service
First off...I'm usually pretty patient with orders. I ordered this heater for my mom with a specific delivery date. This order was not shipped by the delivery date. This heater came 3 weeks late. Not only that, but they charged me for two heaters. This company seems to try and take advantage people. I've been in contact with Amazon to get this taken care of after trying to deal directly with the company "OCProducts". Hopefully this will get resolved soon. As for the Heater itself, it heats just enouh to keep the cold off. I have not had the chance to use it in temps below 55 degrees. I would suggest using a different supplier if possible if purchasing a product similar to this one... Do not use OCProducts. Thanks for reading this and hope it helps. read comments below

Great product. Bought one several years ago for my house in CT. We winter in FL and as this season has been unusually cold so far, I purchased one for our home here. As I am using it on my lanai, there is no umbrella to connect it to. So I bought a stand and a pole to hang it from. I can move it around as needed. It would be a great option if the manufacturer offered that as an accessory.I have used both the table top and floor model propane heaters in the past and this product is a much better option for me.

Just OK hoped for better
Received the item with no problems. The quality seemed good. The assembly went without a hitch. Unfortunately it barely puts out any heat. The manufacturer could improve the design by installing two heat bars in each of the three blades. The nice thing is that it gives off plenty of light which I was missing under our umbrella. For a very moderate evening say in the 60's it helps take off the chill a little bit. I suppose it's better than nothing and the price is not bad so I am keeping it but am a little disappointed it does not put out more heat.

Not thrilled, but OK.
Needed some sort of heater on the patio, and I was debating propane vs electric. This heater does take the chill off, but not as effective as propane. It creates a bright light, so if you want a little heat and alot of light it works well; I have since bought a used short propane heater, and the two together work very well!

Not very warm
In order to get warm you have to drop the heater down really low on the umbrella pole. I thought this would be a handy device to keep everyone warm at the table but it just really doesn't warm things that much even with it dropped down and blocking your view of everyone else. Not worth the cash.

One star for us, but perhaps better for others in warmer regions.
This contraption was a nice idea. Did not work for me, for one general and one family-specific reason.First - other reviewers are correct about the heater's inability to keep people warm in colder climes. In upstate New York, the heater did not radiate enough heat in 45-degree weather to keep us warm; and if there was even a slight breeze, it could barely be felt. One could move the heater further down the umbrella pole towards cold, seated people; but it was visually obtrusive enough to make social discourse impossible.Second - my kids watch horror and monster movies, and the appearance of this item creeped them out. It is reminiscent of some alien craft or weapon, or some animatronic insect, after they pointed this out to me. Too bad it didn't work. But if you are in the Carolinas or farther south, and it's a still night in the mid-fifties, this might well work for you.
