TMJ Soft Stretch Wrap with Chin Cup with 4 Hot & Cold Packs by Cool Jaw

I had double jaw surgery last week and I because I work at the hospital I had surgery in, I knew the ice bags they use would be uncomfortable and would not compress my face. So when I found this product before surgery, I was excited. Unfortunately, when I told my surgeon that I bought this product, he did not seem very pleased. He said the gel packs will not last long and will turn warm. He prefers ice bags. As a physical therapist, I knew gel packs do wonders for pain and swelling so I decided to try it anyway. I found that the gel packs only lasted under an hour. If I fell asleep, the gel pack would be warm from body heat- not just room temp- by the time I woke up. I guess because the packs are so small, they don't last long and need to be changed frequently. I needed more than one back up set in the freezer for this to be effective. Another complaint I have is the Velcro snags the silky material and makes me think it will fall apart over time. So it is probably good for only short term use.

I do use this item occasionally but it could be better.PROS-Hands free relief-Comes with 2 sets (4 packs) so you can freeze a set while you use a set-The packs can be heated in the microwave (8-12 seconds on high works for me, but exercise caution), or cooled in the freezer-The company seems niceCONS-Wrap is made of the same low quality shiny fabric that children's Halloween costumes are made of-If you have TMJD, the wrap can sort of cause more discomfort because it pulls your bottom jaw back-I can't speak for freezing the packs because I've never tried that, but when heating the packs, they stay at an adequate temperature for 5-10 minutes it seems and then they are just sort of warmThis product would probably be awesome for anyone wearing it after a dental procedure (ex: wisdom tooth removal) but I am a little more hesitant to recommend it for TMJD. You can always give it a try though since you might have better results than me!

I bought this item with the thought that I could use the gel packs for heat packs when my jaw or anyplace else hurt. When I got it in the mail and looked it over it was a big disappointment. First the material to place the gel packs was flimsey and when I put the gel pack in the microwave to warm it up (following the directions) it did not completely get warmed. The gel pack looked like it was going to explored so I took it out and only the edges were warm - not the middle part where you want it to. I decided to send it back and found out that they wouldn't give a full refund and I would have to pay for the return cost of sending it back! Had I'd known that it would cost me more to return it then it was worth I wouldn't have ordered it in the first place. The cost would have been close to $20 & I paid $25 for it so I decided to keep it.I've had it now for a few months and tried it again for heat/cold & noticed the material is really gettting full of pills and the velcro is pulling away from the material. Would not recommend to anyone to buy!

I bought this face wrap for when I had double jaw surgery with expansion and pulling both jaws forward. The ice packs worked wonderfully! I used them right away post surgery, through my hospital stay, and a month later am still using them for pain. My only complaint is that the wrap is white and becomes quite stained. I highly recommend this product for anyone having maxillofacial double jaw surgery. I wish I would have bought it for my wisdom teeth because of how how tight fitting it is and how well it ices the area.

I used it for my TMJ and it was pretty good though doesn’t keep heat for that long. I couldn’t help but think it was perfect for icing after my wisdom teeth removal.

It worked really well for my wisdom teeth removal and it made icing my face so much easier but after a few days the stitching on the bottom came loose and there is a huge hole in the bottom. It's a great product to have for any sort of surgery where you need to ice your face but I'm highly disappointed by how quickly it came apart. There's two large holes right at the chin and it makes it impossible to use now not that I would need to ice my face anymore but still it's disappointing that it's a waste of money.

With four wisdom teeth coming out on the same day, you have to have this! The dentist gives you one small blob gel pack to put on your jaw for 20 mins then pop back into the freezer, refreeze and repeat...what a dental racket, you pay $$$$ for the wisdom teeth removal and they give you a 10cent piece of crap. Go buy this and save your kids from misery. It comes with 4 gel packs so you have another set waiting in the freezer. My daughter used it all the time for the first 48 hours. It was a life saver. She was happy and did not bruise or suffer from too much swelling. When she went back to the dentist he was surprised that she had no pockets! No kidding, she was actually healing faster than most. The wrap is washable!

If I could give it a 4.5 instead of a 4, I would. It can cause a bit of pain as it presses on the sore joint while cooling it. That said, I'm a lot more likely to ice my sore TMJ's since getting this product. I can actually get something done while icing! Also, this product has been just as effective as an ice wrap for sore feet and knees.
