Victron Energy BMV-712 Smart Battery Monitor with Shunt 6.5-70 VDC - Grey

This was part of a new battery installation on my boat, fitting and setup was incredibly simple and everything worked perfectly 1st time. Shunt is in a particularly difficult position in my installation so I pre programmed everything before installing it physically. It all networked easily with the other Victron components and immediately after switching on, the new charger was using information from the BMV-712 in its charging profile. Excellent piece of kit, I do however recommend using the app from Victron as it is much easier than scrolling through the menu on the little screen. Would definitely recommend this.

Great bit of kit ~ value for £ and good delivery time

Easy to install, and works perfectly, data cable is very long and in my case I only needed about 4’ so it means a large bundle of cable in battery compartment so I’m looking for a shorter cable which would be great if this was an option on purchase, apart from that I’m happy with it

I do not think the display provided is worthwhile so I did not install it so it was visible. Luckily the telephone app is good and reliably connects over Bluetooth over a fair distance. The only disappointment with the app is that it only records whilst it is active and the information is lost when you leave the app. Because the negative connections are in my case many and smaller than the victron connection you need a go between such as a “bus bar” but I used a connection piece that connected to the victron but had two smaller connections. I also needed to purchase a battery cable. As well as the connection to the leisure battery I was going to add the connection to the starter battery but have not done so yet as it is difficult to route a cable to it.

I had this fitted during a narrowboat battery replacement. It was a surprisingly simple installation. Once in, the unit worked first time (including Bluetooth app and link to starter battery) and I am now officially obsessed with the state of charge of my batteries. To the point of ad nauseum!

A great improvement on our previous method of working out what our batteries were doing. Not easy to fit, and not a staightforward job with a lot of adjustment needed to the wiring layout in our case at least. Having got through it and installation complete, I would be without it for its clear information on what our charge state is.

Simply brilliant, now I can relax in the knowledge I can monitor my existing 12volt system and being future proof when I'm up grading to lithium next sailing season. Big thank to George of sail and refit for all the brilliant YouTube videos.

Das ist ja ein cooles Teil. Präzise kann man hier den Ladezustand des Akkus beobachten, entweder per Display oder App. Einzige Kritik: es sollte besser beschrieben werden, wie die vielen Parameter für den verwendeten Akku-Typ einzustellen sind. Ich kenne mich doch nicht aus- welchen Wert für Schweifstrom oder Peukert-Exponent. Da gibt die Anleitung nicht viel her, das Internet hilft dann aber. Wenn es einmal eingestellt ist, liefert es beste Ergebnisse.

I hummed and hawed about whether I really needed this. I had that "light bar" style battery monitor panel that came standard with my RV. Green was good, yellow was low, etc. But I wasn't sure how accurate it was and wanted to know how much my solar panel was helping. So I took the plunge and installed the Victron. Easy to install and the Bluetooth functionality is so helpful. Turns out that "light bar" battery monitor was useless because it wasn't reading my 200 Ah AGM properly (wasn't designed to). Also, turns out that my solar panel was barely producing any Amps to charge my battery. Without the Victron I wouldn't have known about the problem. Now everything is up and running and the Victron shows my what is happening with my RV battery, estimates days left on my battery, etc. Fantastic.

Felicissimo di averlo preso… ci ho messo un pochino di tempo per settarlo come volevo ma ne é valsa la pena. Assolutamente soddisfatto
