NOT soft enough
I'm writing this review because I wish someone would of said this bed is NOT soft, I have a 15 pound older Jack Russell Terrier who needs good support but also softness. I was under the impression the top layer would be soft and comfy but its firm so I'm disappointed in the bed. I'm sorry I bought this bed. My dog prefers other beds I bought that are supportive and soft. So this is why I only give a 3 star rating.It is well made, nice looking, supportive. The cover is very tight, had to struggle to get it zipped up. I think it would probably work good for big dogs who weight a lot and need good support. Nothing wrong with this product just not what I need......UPDATE... I changed my review from a 3 star to a 5 star. K9 Ballistics saw my review, they contacted me, offered me a softer mattress at their expense, which my dog loves. This bed is a high quality product , including the new mattress , made by a high quality business that stands behind the products they sell. I think the dog bed will last many years, it is worth the money. I recommend this dog bed!

Kept our paralyzed dog more comfortable than anything
I can't say enough praise to this bed... Our large dog became partially paralyzed due to osteosarcoma metastasis to hi spine; he had difficulty getting up and turning around and in the end needed help to change sides -- but the bed kept his really comfortable, especially when he was staying on one side for a long time. He preferred it to his Dad's mattress next to his, and the bolster design was a relief, so his paws did not get stuck between the pillows which we were using originally to keep him comfortable.The cover comes off very easily and quickly and tolerated several laundries without any issues; the foam cover can be cleaned and taken off if needed. We also used a full size fitted sheet over the cover which we could change more frequently.It is huge and a human can comfortably lie on it, if cuddling with the dog...

Very comfy and high quality bed
My 11 year old blue heeler/border collie cross loves this bed, especially the bolsters. She is about 40 lbs and the large bed is big enough for her to stretch out a bit. I have since bought a second one for her. Spoiled girl. The bed arrives in a much smaller box than the bed ends up, vacuum packed in plastic. The bed expands pretty quickly and has a bit of off gassing for about a day. Overall we are very happy with these beds, I have even tried it out and found it very comfy.The bed in the photo has been in use for about three months.

The dogs like it
I got the large for my 50# Husky. It is not long enough for her to stretch out. My Husky is long and lean, so I'm not sure going by weight is always the best way to pick a size. My 47# hound can stretch out easily on it--she actually looks tiny in it. It is wider than most. Both dogs fit in it together easily. When I first got it, I had the bottom of the mattress on the top of the bed and it was not at all soft. The directions were very clear about which way is up--I just hadn't looked at them. I have a couple of other memory foam beds and this seems firmer than those. This is keeping its shape and holding up well.

Good for cats too!
I bought the medium-sized one for our cat. (Yes, I bought it for a geriatric cat.) This is the perfect bed for him. He loves to sleep on it. The cushion has a water-proof cover and is very soft. I also like how the furry liner can be removed if it needs washed. My only concern is if the liner will hold up with random cat claws punctures. Fortunately he knows it is his bed, so he doesn't use it as a litter box or scratching post.About the sizing: I felt like the Pomeranian in the small bed picture looked uncomfortable, so I bought a medium one. However, the medium bed is really big. It could fit 3 happy curled up kitties on it. My suggestion is that unless you have a petite Chihuahua, go for the medium and just make room on your floor for it.

Cant imagine a better bed for my dog
My 140lb Great Dane loved this bed in the larger size so much I had to buy another one for downstairs, so got this slightly smaller one. If I had the space I'd probably have gone for the bigger size that we have upstairs. That said, she fits in this one comfortably if she wants to, if you've seen a Great Dane sleep, you know that they lay all over and outside of whatever they're in no matter the size anyway.There is a little assembly required, and its daunting at first look but actually went together very easily. Its very comfortable, well constructed and made from quality materials. Its even pretty good looking for a dog bed. I've taken the outer cover off and washed it once, there was a lot of black fluff but not so much it was a problem. Looks just as great as new when i put it back together again.Others have mentioned a smell. I didn't find the smell to be a problem at all. All memory foam has a slightly unpleasant smell. If anything this product had less of an unpleasant smell than I'd expected.

This dog bed is awesome and worth the little extra money. Our Jack Russell- Rat Terrier mix will be 13 years old in May. She was starting to limp after being in her old bed for any length of time, so I wanted to get an orthopedic bed for her. I checked out all of the pet stores and other dog beds online. The pet store beds were cheap, very thin and pricey. Most of the online beds that were cheaper stated the orthopedic mattress was about an inch thick. So, I decided to order from K9 Ballistics after reading one of the reviews that said the quality of these beds was exceptional. I agree. The orthopedic foam is very thick as stated. I also love the ability to take the cover off to wash separately. An added bonus is the protective layer over the foam for older dogs that can have incontinence issues. Our dog immediately laid on this bed without any coaxing and continues to love it. It has really helped with her limping. Lastly, I was worried about the size, but ordered what was recommended for her size on the website. She fits perfectly, so the size chart is correct. We definitely recommend K9 Ballistic dog beds!

PERFECT bed for old dogs! Teddy approved!
My dog LOVES this bed. It came quickly, was a little hard to assemble just because you really have to squish the stuffing into the cover but once it was assembled Teddy didn't want to get out. He's been sleeping on it nonstop for a couple weeks now and the mattress is holding up and has no give to it yet, which is perfect for his little old bones :)
