I drop my phone all the time and it protects it every time. It is a bit difficult to get off because it is so tightly secured, but that is a great thing if you aren't changing them out all the time. When I finally took the case off after 2.5 years the interior of my phone was completely clean. No dirt or grime got inside between the phone and the case. My first case was still in great shape, but the plastic on it finally faded from clear to sort of an orange hue. The glitter and liquid inside the outer piece still moved well.
