After reading negative reviews I felt I should explain how to use this product. It truly saved my self esteem. The 1st 2 pictures are during my chemo. The 2nd 2 are now that I'm older & my hair has naturally thinned. *This product is a hair fiber. That means it attaches to your hair, not scalp. Chemo time I used Toppik by shaking it on my dry hair and fluffing w my fingers as I went. You can see the amazing difference. The now me uses the Toppik spray applicator you can buy separately that you use to poof it on your hair by the thin areas and fluff to add volume. Poof it or shake Toppik under & over your hair. It takes a little trial and error but truly is worth it & does not take long to apply once you learn. Good luck! Best wishes to my fellow cancer patients xx

I have been using this product for 30 years so is my sister and best friend. I use it to increase the volume in couple of are - and works so well, specially in between hair wash, when I weak up the back of my hair dives and create a line down to the scalp. I don’t have bold spots rather thin spots that I use this product to feel. Looks so natural. My sister does have lots of bold spots and this product works so good for her that you can’t tell there is no hair in those areas. Is a magical cover up product!

I've been waiting to write a review about Toppik until I've used a few bottles to see how the product holds up in different weather and conditions. I absolutely love it. I have Alopecia and (bad) thinning on my crown. I wore a partial hairpiece for years, which looked great and did the trick. But for any of you ladies out there in the same position, you know what a human hairpiece means. It's expensive, so for me, I could only have two, and they were identical pieces. They were dyed to match my hair, which meant I had to color my hair exactly the same color for years. And the style never changed, short bob forever. Not to mention the maintenance, head forms in the bathroom, and having to replace the hairpieces when they wear out. I decided to give Toppik a try because I wanted to see if I could use it and feel comfortable with my own hair. To explain my level of thinning, I would never go out of the house without a hat or hairpiece. Ever. Once I started using Toppik, the hairpieces and head forms went into the closet and they haven't come back out! I love love love this stuff. I started out using Toppik with the spray applicator, which worked well for a while. But then I noticed the spray applicator wasn't working as well as it once had. I would pump once and have to wait forever for the air to refill the pumper and it would take a long time to cover my thinning areas using this method. So I finally popped the sprayer off and used the shake method. Works like a charm. Because I am thin all over my crown, I use the sharp end of a comb, start at one side of my head, slightly above my ear, and create a part to the back of my head. Shake on the Toppik from back to front (careful near your face! it can be messy). Repeat the process about half an inch apart all the way across my head. Once I'm done, I use a cotton ball to clean my face and hairline of any Toppik that has gotten out of control (especially check the nose and under your eyes). Quick check with a handheld mirror for coverage, and then I usually use some type of defrizz or smoother on my hair. When I put that on, I do end up with Toppik on my hands from rubbing my hair, no biggie. After that I use regular hairspray which seems to work well to lock the Toppik in place. I believe there is a product you can buy to do this, but I've never used it. Since I've started using Toppik I've grown my hair out. I haven't had long hair in about 10 years because I had to conform to the hairpiece, but not anymore! I can wear my hair wavy or straight again, when before I always had to blow-dry it straight to match the hairpiece. I love my hair again, which isn't something I thought I would ever be able to say. And there is a weird side effect of the Toppik for me. Normally if I wash my hair in the morning, and don't use Toppik, by the next morning, my hair is starting to get a little greasy, not a problem if I'm wearing a hat, but even before my hair loss, I washed my hair every day. When I use the Toppik, my hair looks awesome the second day! It ends up super full from the roots down and not oily at all. I can sometimes go three days without washing it, which would have seemed crazy to me before using this product. The best I can surmise is that the Toppik absorbs the oil my scalp is secreting?? Anyway, I don't really care, because it means I can get two, sometimes three great hair days out of one styling and application of the Toppik. So the downside? It is really messy. No matter how careful I am, I still end up with Toppik all over the sink and counter, and I use dark brown, so it really shows. As messy as it is, I really don't care. It could be ten times messier and I would still use it. Because until you've gone through the difficulty of losing your hair, you will never understand how amazing it feels to get compliments on your own real hair again!! I have been out in the rain with no problem, and worked out. While working out, when my head gets sweaty and I wipe it with a towel, there is Toppik on the towel. I just make sure to be careful. Have not gone swimming in it, and probably won't try. I've also used Great Hair Day powder and really liked it, but for the amount of coverage I now need, Toppik is the product for me. If you are on the fence, order the smallest size and try it. You can always send it back if it doesn't work for you, and it could change the way you feel about your hair!

So, if you're bothering to read reviews about anything like this in your ongoing battle with baldness, then let me be clear, right up front - the hair loss is winning the war. To terribly misquote Jim Morrison, "No hair gets out of here alive".... So, you're hoping against all odds that some miracle product will be a cheap, effective, undetectable cure-all in your fight against genetics or disease...well, the good news is THIS PRODUCT KIND OF WORKS. Let me be as transparent as the fine little hairs you're hoping will grow on your head - if you have some hair, but it's thinning pretty bad, this stuff will make it look fuller and hide some of the dreaded scalp showing through - however, if you plan on people getting really close to it, you can see the toppik on your scalp (at least, the dark colors show up if you're Caucasian or light skinned) - but this should work well for a job interview, a date in a restaurant, an acting/theatre gig, maybe even a family gathering - but if you plan on getting lucky and he/she not noticing the smudges on the pillow in the morning, you are out of luck....If battling hair loss is what you're up against, then Toppik is, metaphorically, another tool in the tool box. Use it with along with everything else - but use it in moderation. Too much and you're a powdered, bald donut. Finally, don't blindly listen to the claims by some of these Amazon reviewers saying it's "amazing" and "no one noticed" - because, if anyone looked close enough, they probably could tell you've got cornstarch type colored powder layering your nearly hairless scalp. On the other hand, don't listen to all these complainers saying it doesn't work at all or that it's garbage - they're just angry, balding trolls with sweaty scalps who were just hoping to find a dirt cheap solution to a problem that has plagued men and women forever. If you have little or no hair, this product really won't work - but if you're in the middle of your hair-less fight, you'll have some pretty good luck with this. I hope this review helps - as I'm someone who's done Bosley, Propecia, Rogaine, Toppik, Tocotrienols and have had some luck with all of them. If, after my long winded review you're still unsure (and you should be) then buy the tiny cheap bottle of Toppik (it will set you back around $10 with shipping) - it's a small price to pay to see if a product works for you. Note, this product builds on existing hairs. If you have none, you will not get the results you are looking for. With that said, this stuff is fantastic! I have extremely thin hair up top and it makes me look bald. But with Toppik I can spend 10 to 15 minutes in the bathroom and leave the house with confidence knowing the average person won't have a clue! If you need to create a hairline, try not to create a perfect line otherwise you will look goofy. It does have a pretty steep learning curve, and I will be willing to bet money that you won't get it right the first or second try, but once you have it down it is pretty easy to quickly whip up a natural looking head of fake hair that doesn't cost nearly as much as a transplant, or those subscription treatment plans that aren't guaranteed to work. This is a fine powder, and builds on existing hairs. It doesn't cause any itching, but NEVER scratch an itch or you will mess up the finish. Coverage is based on your preference and needs. Use hairspray (medium hold) to lock in the look and it will last all day or until your next wash. GREAT PRODUCT! Photos of before and after included.

I purchased the medium brown, in the smallest size so I could try it out. The bottle is very tiny, but I have to admit that I am very surprised by how many uses I have gotten out of it so far! Although, you can not see through the bottle so it is impossible to say how many uses I have left in it too, as the product itself is pretty much weightless. I have to say that I kind of have a love/hate relationship with this product. I am torn between giving this product a 2 or 3 star rating. In the end, I went with a 3. This is because I feel that perhaps this product would work better for someone who has hair that is not quite as thin as mine is. The medium brown that I ordered is much darker than I had expected. I personally feel that the medium brown is much more of a dark brown. So, I will say that this product does indeed help make your hair appear thicker. I feel that it helps to give my very thin and very fine hair a bit of lift/volume at the root. I appreciate this about this product. I am able to hide the spots where my hair is super thin and pretty much balding. From a distance I love the way this product helps my hair!! With that being said, I can not bring myself to actually love this product as much as I want to. I have tried so many different ways of applying it, and I still haven't found a way of doing it that it is less noticeable closer up. I am very self conscious that people will notice it, as it does end up blotchy and in small chunks. I am unable to apply this near my hair part, as it is extremely obvious that it is not natural. The best way to apply that I have found, is to make several parts in my hair an inch or two from where I leave my hair parted and sprinkle lightly along those. But any closer than a half inch or so from where my hair will stay, and it's a disaster. Big dark brown blotches and white scalp, ugh it's a ugly mess. There is no smell to the product, and I can't say that I have experienced any irritation or discomfort from it. This surprised me a lot, as I have very sensitive skin and my scalp has been extremely sensitive since I tried using Monat products to help with my hairloss. I also do not feel like this product has or will contribute to further hair loss. I also have been pleasantly surprised that I have not had any transfer issues with this product. There is no issues with going to bed or laying down or putting a hood of a jacket up over my head. No color transfer at all. I do not think I will reorder this product. I may try another brand and see if it is any better in being less clumpy or obvious in the sunlight or closer up. Or, I may just go back to order more of the Batiste Dry Shampoo spray for dark hair, as I felt like that product was so much less obvious and I could spray it right on my scalp and nobody would really notice it. Plus it smelled nice lol. Like I said, I want to love it.... but I just can't. Being a female with hair loss is very very difficult.

This stuff really works! I was very skeptical at first but after using it now for a week I can say it works like magic! I have thinning in my crown and one on side of my frontal hair line and extending into a little bit of the middle, a couple of shakes of this stuff and bam the visible appearance of my thinning was none existing! My hair looked fuller than ever, and it definitely gave me the confidence boost that I’ve been lacking ever since my hair began to thin somewhat about 3 years ago. For the first time in a while I actually felt good about myself and didn’t hate looking in the mirror. This stuff lasts long too! I didn’t need to reapply it the next morning at all, not until I washed my hair maybe 2-3 days after using, unless you’re a daily hair washer which I am not, I don’t need to be I have 3B natural curly hair this product will last a while! Which is a good thing because it was kind of pricey, however how it has made me feel about myself and my appearance is well worth the money to me. And it’s much cheaper and zero pain compared to some of the more permanent options out there. My only issue with the product is you have to use it on dry hair, and as I said I have 3B curly hair I can’t really go a day without some type of light product especially in the morning after waking up. So I usually will do my hair and add product when I get dressed for the day then wait an hour or so after and apply this, however if you are tight on time that’s not really feasible, and trust me you do want to apply it to dry hair or risk your hands being covered in black speckles if you apply it to wet or damp hair. The product says style as usual after applying and not sure exactly how one does that unless they mean add hairspray or maybe a paste or puddy something on the dryer and thicker side but I don’t use those products as they would weigh down my hair instantly .

Giving this product a firm 4 stars, even though I admittedly did choose to Return it for a refund. I returned it because the color I chose was advertised as Medium Brown, but it came out as verrrry dark brown, almost black. Not a good match for my current color. Apparently Light Brown is what I should go with. So odds are if you need to choose the shade, err toward a little lighter than normal. That said…as for the actual quality and ease of use of the product, it seems buyers are pretty divided on one thing, and that is the “stayability” of the fibers. I tried the product 3 straight days, and did a “shake test” at 3 different times. On Day 1, about 3 hours after application, I went to the bathroom and I ran my fingers gently through my hair and lots of dark brown fiber flakes fell into the sink. Hair still looked fine though, still had decent color “coverage”. On Day 2, about 5 hours after application, I had the same amount of loose fiber flakes as 3 hours. Hair still looked fine and still had decent color “coverage.” On Day 3, about 10 hours after application, I had the same amount of loose fiber flakes as 3-5 hours. Hair still looked fine and still had decent color “coverage.” So in MY experience, you can go just about a full day and retain decent color coverage over your balding spots…BUT you will have to deal with floating colored flakes if you make any real contact with the spots you addressed with the product. See the photos below, of the Before/After pics as well as what I saw in the sink after gently running my fingers through my hair. My best take… this could be a really good product for those who really need to cover some thin spots and seldom/never touch their hair throughout the day. And I would most definitely NEVER wear a light-colored shirt when using this product, unless you want to look like you have noticeable dark “dandruff”…and if your hair gets wet, you’ll likely have colored streaks on your clothing. Lastly, I may consider re-buying this in the lighter color, but would likely only use it when I KNOW pictures are being taken or while wearing a brown, black or dark grey shirt.

Por 4 años he sufrido de alopecia, y al tener 29 años, me daba mucha pena el no poder peinarme (o no peinarme en lo absoluto) porque mis calvitas están en la parte superior. Pensé mucho en compra Toppink porque pensé que sería horrible, pero es perfecto. Tiene buena adherencia, no se ve falso y el color se pierde muy bien entre tu propio cabello. He visto muchos productos clones en Amazon, y soy sincera, no sé si este lo eso, pero funciona muy bien :) Si tienen el cabello oscuro, les recomiendo usar el color café oscuro, porque el negro es un negro pero de tinte y se ve falso en un cabello oscuro natural.

Been using this product for a couple of years now. Fantastic! Hides the obvious thinning hair. Colours naturally that shiny white scalp that magnifies thin hair loss. Like this size for travel, small & weightless enough to always keep in purse. * use this morning from a larger bottle. Keep this handy for touch ups during the day if needed but haven't had to use it so far. It stays on all day unless you brush it or rub it off which doesn't usually happen. Good to have in purse just in case. Came on time as promised & I highly recommend it in any size for those who need it!
