My attic ladder has three folds and is 15" total height folded. The depth of the ladder opening is 6". Will this product fit?

You opening and ladder folds sound standard. This product should fit. I was extremely pleased with mine. Suggest you buy an electric staple gun as you will be using a lot of staples.

The actual opening of our attic hatch is 20.5 by 28 inches. Will this work?

This product is designed for a larger opening, 25 X 54. It can be stapled to the wood frame that surrounds drop down stairs. Amazon has an R-20 Attic Hatch Insulation Cover that looks like it can be trimmed to do what you want. Look at Energy Guardian HU1-20-10A. I’ve neither seen nor used this product, but I would give it a try. Attic hatches are literally radiant ceiling heaters all summer long.
