VERY ENLIGHTENING
The stories of actual confrontation and the reactions from the law enforcement officers was some of the most interesting reading I've enjoyed in the past. The author's exposure of how different officers handled combat situations, despite having the same training, was very eye opening and molded my expectations about potential confrontations to a more realistic picture.

Exceptional!
This book is exceptional! Readers often buy this book when they buy one of my books, When Cops Kill: the aftermath of a critical incident, and I know why! Into The Kill Zone allows you to hear the truth about officer-involved shootings from the LEOs who pulled the triggers - in their own words. As a LEO and an attorney who represents LEOs following officer-involved shootings, I recommend this book for anyone who carries a gun and a badge. Well done, Dr. Klinger and thank you for your service to LEOs!

Fascinating read
Law enforcement people, in their own words, talk about how it felt to take a life, to come close to taking a life and then deciding it wasn't necessary, and to see someone else pull the trigger. Well told stories, very believable. The author's interpretations and comments are also excellent, blending theory and down-to-earth observations with compassion. If you've ever wondered what it's like to deal with a kill-or-be-killed situation, you'll probably like this book. I enjoyed it as a trip into a land I hope I never have to enter except on the printed page.

Amazing book!!!
If you are in or planning on gittin into law enforcement or just want to know what it's really like to pull the trigger this is a must read. It's an amazing book. David Klinger did an amazing job. This book is not for the weak minded. It is all true stories of people he interviewed. This book will give you an idea of what it's like to pull the trigger, when officers decide not to pull the trigger and there stories of officers who got shot themselves. It's a real eye opener and if you are not in law enforcement you will have a new respect for those who are after reading this book.

An inside view of an emotional issue
A very well written and researched book on a very involved and emotional subject. It clearly shows police officers as humans with all the human emotions and frailties that other humans who are not police officers have. I thought it was a balanced account. For those people who think police officers are gun happy and go to work every day wanting to shoot someone, read this book and hopefully you will be set straight.

Split Second Decisions With Life Altering Consequences.
Examines numerous instances during which police officers resorted to deadly force. Debunks the Hollywood myth that the cops are back to work within minutes following a officer involved shooting, with little or no consequences. The reality is that their decisions which had to be made within seconds are scrutinized by at the very least, a department Internal Affairs unit, A Grand Jury, the District Attorneys office, the press and in some cases the courts.

Must Read Book on Police and the Decision to Use Deadly Force
Excellent book written by a former police officer, now professor of criminology and criminal justice. Easy to read narratives that help one to understand the police officer's point of view on the decision whether to use deadly force against a suspect. Must reading for anyone interested in the subject.
