Nice Heavy Duty Crate
I purchased this crate for my 65 pound chocolate lab / pit bull mix 3 year old who has some speration anxiety issues. She had destroyed 2 previous crates and hurt herself once while trying to escape. This crate is HEAVY DUTY. 80 pounds shipping weight. The construction is nice with welded vertical and horizontal bars. The crate bolts together with included hardware which was nice but could have included a few extra washers. (They only include enough washers to be used on the nut side of the bolts. Went to home depot and got 60 cents in extra washers to do the job right) There were no directions but once you pull everything out its easy to see how to fits together.I did feel that the locks on the crate were a bit flimsy so I picked up a couple of barrel bolts from home depot as well and bolted them on. I have not noticed any bends in any of the locking mechanisms so I assume that the original locks were strong enough but for 98 cents it was worth the piece of mind. The crate collapses on itself for transport and can bolt together in less then 5 mins with a ratchet and wrench. The only downside is that the crate arrived with a broken weld for the floor of the unit. I used some epoxy from home depot to fix the weld. My dog loves the crate and shes not afraid to go in it and lay down during the evening hours which she never did with the cheep crates from the local pet stores. If you have a dog that likes to abuse their crate or escapes you need this crate.

Looks Good, Works Great, Worth Every Penny
We have an 80 lb black Labrador Retriever who is an "escape artist". He has torn about, broken open and otherwise destroyed three different crates. The first two were the sort that you can buy at Petsmart. Reasonably heavy guage wire, but nothing that will stop a large dog that is really determined to break out of the crate. The third one was similar to this but with 20 guage wire rather than actual bars.Unlike the other reviewer, I bought this crate on Amazon from Pampered Pets. The crate arrived in good condition and was easy to assemble. It doesn't include instructions, but assembly was very obvious and easy and they weren't needed. The hinges and locks are just fine. My dog has been in the crate for two weeks now and nothing is bent, damaged, etc. The previous crates were destroyed in 2 weeks, even the heavier third one.I am very happy with this crate. I wish I had found it sooner rather than spending money on three other products that were never designed for the sort of dog that I have in the first place. If your dog breaks out of crates routinely, you need something better than the typical doggie crate/kennel. This is it. It's anything but typical, with heavy duty bars that no dog smaller than a Dane could bend or break. And it still looks good, unlike some of the other heavy duty crates I saw that looked like they belonged at the dog pound.I highly recommend this. You'll ultimately save money by spending a bit more on this one.

crate rocks, latches are CRAP
Note sure why the manufacturer would go to such great lengths to make a heavy duty crate and put a piece of crap latching mechanism on it. Its bendable its so cheap and the drill holes on the steel don't line up with where the lock need to screw into - they might as well not have included it. The assembly was a piece of cake and I (wife) and not at all handy. It is heavy though - 70 pounds I think it was so have someone help you get it out of the box. It was shipped well, easy to move and other than the junk latches I am thrilled. My Akitas cannot (or at least not yet) get out. I am, however using a heavy duty chain and lock to secure the top and door. I have never seen more determined stronger breeds regarding crates so if it works for my dogs then it should work for any dog that fits into it unless the dog is totally psycho.

Heavy duty, but not the greatest
I purchased this crate a couple of weeks ago when our foster pit bull broke out of a very heavy duty plastic crate. It arrived in good condition and it was easy to put together. It is large enough for me to even fit my 100 pound American Bulldog in it, so the size is great. You can tell that it is well made and very heavy duty. I took the advice of some of the other reviewers and added 3 one foot long chains in case the latches didn't hold, but so far the locks have not been a problem and our little escape artist has stayed in the crate, which is wonderful. I also didn't put the wheels on it because I don't want her trying to escape and the crate move. The biggest complaint that I have is that it has a tray with a grate that goes underneath the entire assembly. My problem with this is that you are left with 6 big bars that stretch width wise through the crate, but the dog does not have a flat surface to lay on, just very uncomfortable awful bars. I know I would be so miserable laying in this crate for 8 hours a day, and I think my dog would too. I thought about buying a replacement tray for another crate to just lay on top of the bars, but I was afraid of how it would fit and decided not to hassle with it. I resolved the problem by stuffing about 8 towels in between the bars to make for a relatively flat surface, and then I laid 3 thick sweatshirt type blankets on top of the towels and then a very thick orthapedic bed on top of all of this. I even got into the crate to test it out and make sure that it was going to be comfortable for her, and it was only after I put all of this stuff down for her that it was ok for her to sleep on. In terms of how heavy duty this crate is, I would give it 5 stars. The problem lies in the overall design, and it does not take into account practicality or the comfort of your animal which is sad.

Sturdy cage
Amazing cage... we had been through three from the doggie stores and our rescue destroyed all of them. This one is great... he is comfortable, and doesn't seem to even be trying to get out!

Keeping my dog safe
My dog is a 7 years old rescue dog, a boxer & greyhound mix. She has a bad case of separation anxiety. After she went thru 3 of the normal crates it was get something she could not get out of or I would have to find her a new home. My husband passed away and she is alone at home while I am at work. After replacing carpet and blinds, I had to do something. She is a great dog and I love to walk with her. This crate works great for us. I did not have a lot of faith in the latches but that was and easy fix, I just purchased one of the sturdy kind. She is one smart dog and would eventally figure out how to unlock it. It is easy to clean but does take up a good bit of space, which is no big deal for me, she has a bedroom just for her crate. I have had it for almost a year and it works great.

it is a bit over priced
The crate leaves a lot to be desired for the money. I bought two crates one was from Dog-Stuff for $385 for a pit with severe anxiety separation issues that I adopted, that crate is like a 5 star hotel! Since our other dog does not have an issue with being in the crate. I figured I would get this one because it was cheaper. Well Cheap is what I got. Some of the parts where scratched and had sticky glue paste on it which was hard to remove. Not worth the money. The door does not open fully. The only plus to this crate is that the top opens. Other than to make it easier to put a bed in there, what use is it?I like to leave the door open so she came in & out during the day, however the door does not open all the way, so you have this door sticking out into the room. The latch is extremely inferior and a joke, they look like a latch for a Barbie doll house, besides they get stuck and hard to close. There are 2 latches, one to this day is stuck and unmovable.

Pics look tough, but it's a waste. Way too $$$, and shoddy
The pics make the cage look heavy-duty, but the bars are all hollow and very thin, the bars aren't welded into the frame, but just resting in loose holes, the hinges that bind the walls are held together with compression pins (half of which must have fallen out during shipping, or were never there to begin with). Moral of the story, the cage cost hundreds of dollars, took over 60 minutes to put together, and only held the dog for 20 minutes. In that 20 minutes, the dog loosened three of the bars from the loose holes they were resting in, and bent them inwards at 90-degrees. The cage couldn't even be improved by replacing the damaged bars and spot-welding the remaining ones into the frame... the bars are too thin/hollow/flimsy. If you have need for a dog kennel/crate that needs to actually be heavy duty and not just look like it in online pictures, then don't waste your time or money on this. Go straight to ray allen dog crates or rhinodogkennels, you'll end up there anyway after this s*** wastes your $$$

but it's still great for the price
The locking mechanism had to be altered, but it's still great for the price.

Pretty secure Cage!
Overall a good, secure dog cage. It's not perfect and had some dings and dents and knicks and scratches, but they where pretty minor. If you have an escape artist dog like mine, you will need to go to a hardware store and get bigger locks. The cage doesn't bend, but the small locks could be opened by a determined dog. Much better than the wire cages out there though. I would recommend this cage, even if you do have to beef up the lock system by going to a hardware store. It really isn't hard to do and didn't cost more than ten bucks.

Sturdy but almost impenatrable. A little heavier gauge bars and a double cross bar it would be a 10+ the tray does slide easy.
It took the dog that chews thru anything quite awhile to disassemble even a part of it.

Worthless
This crate was purchased for a 55 pound German Shepherd mix. She's not especially large and, at 8 years old, not especially strong or energetic. Yet it didn't take long for her to figure out that she could get the door to open with a little persistence, the lock is useless. It's tricky to get latched and rattling the door will cause it to unlatch. We started blocking the door to the crate and that's when she bent the bars, one of them came completely free from the top portion of the crate.

The floor
I don’t like the thin floor. Need to use thicker material..

look elsewhere.
For the money, the fit and finish of this kennel is mediocre. The latches barely engage on the door and not at all on the removable roof panel.
