Great Christmas book to add to my kiddos collection!

I just finished reading this book to my daughter. It is a richly written book that contains almost everything connected to Christmas: letter writing to Santa, play in the snow, family time, toy picking, nativity scenes observation, waiting for Santa, decorating the home, participation in school plays, tree picking, a how-to guide to wrapping of presents, Christmas eve with grandma and grandpa. It includes a Little Critter version of "'Twas the night before Christmas" in the form of a dream. It also includes a wonderful Christmas song along with its notes written specially for Little Critter. Finally, of course is the gift opening part. This is a very comprehensive book about the experience about the Christmas. I am sure it will face some critique. For one thing, it does show Christmas as a little bit too commercial especially for the fact that he writes a loooooong list of toys for Santa to bring him. He finally gets a lot of toys, but not all on his list. So it is a little bit of a middle ground, trying to satisfy the child's wishes for toys while at the same time trying to teach him to be happy with what he gets. He does get plenty so it is not the most humbling experience for a child to read about. But all in all, if we don't look too much into it being politically correct so to say, it is a great book. Very much worth buying to be read over and over. I wish I could know how the song would sound based on the notes.

My son loves anything from this author. We were very pleased with the purchase and will continue to recommend anything Mercer Mayer writes.

Super cute! Very secular Christmas

I absolutely love Mercer Mayer books. They're easy to read and they're not long winded either. Perfect time frame for a toddler. I'd suggest getting every book they have. My favorite books to read to my 2 year old & 8 month old. They will sit the entire time, that's why I love their books!!

I got this for my daughter as one of her new books for the holiday season. She gets one or two new ones each year. She is a HUGE fan of Mercer Mayer and so this was a natural choice. The story is short enough to let her sit through the whole thing, and is engaging, and very sweet. Little Critter's family is celebrating Christmas - they are busy doing many of the traditional things that families do at Christmas - Baking cookies together, decorating the tree, writing a letter to Santa, and going shopping for Christmas presents. It is a lift-the-flap book - which engages the child reader as they need to lift the flap on each page to finish out the action on each 2 page spread. The flaps are pretty sturdy too - which is good if your child is a little too rough on their books! Another great selection from Mercer Mayer featuring that adorable Little Critter!!!

I love these books and when I seen they had the Christmas one, I knew I needed to get it for my kids. It's a Christmas favourite!

I read all the Little Critter books when I was a kid and have now turned my three-year-old daughter on to them. This was a special treat for the Christmas season and she was not disappointed. Her favourite part is when the sled crashes into the pigs - hilarious! She likes to lift the flaps to see what comes next. Great book, I just wish Mercer Mayer had included a page on leaving cookies and milk out for Santa!

Anything Mercer Meyer is a favourite in our house! My kids love the pictures in his books. They're so fun and keep them interested.

My son looks little critter books , this was perfect for Christmas

I just love the fact that these Little Critter books are still available. My children loved them when they were young and now they are becoming a fast favourite of my 5 year old granddaughter !
