Why are some reviews talking about wire? Is this for heat shrink tubing or wire? Or has amazon got their reviews all messed up again?

Go back and look at the Amazon page for this, It has multiple options to choose from. From 18 to 30 gauge wire, and 2 different heat shrinks 2:1 and 3:1. So depending on what you wan, you have 8 choices. Click on 2:1 heat shrink and that is what you are buying. I agree, when I read a review I want it for a specific product, Not several different products. But this Amazon page lets you choose which item you want to buy and then the reviews are all thrown into the same pot.

Question 2

Why is the vast majority of questions and reviews here referring to "wire" when the item is shrink tubing?! Sounds fishy to me. I'm going elsewhere.

I came to ask the same thing, but Im pretty sure its marine heat shrink, which is relly good stuff if you need thicker heat shrink with an adhesive inside. I ordered it anyway.

Does the adhesive work as a conductor or as an insulator?

Im pretty sure its a thermoplastic adhesive. It would be non conductive until its dielectric breaking voltage. Which is likely very very high. Like in the ranges of 100,000's of volts. Example 100 - 300 kilovolts per centimeter area.
