Vanicream Shampoo, Helps Remove Oil, Flaking and Build-Up, 12 Fl Oz

I am 46. I have a serious problem with an itchy head after I wash my hair. I itch for 2 days. Not dandruff itch. Just dry skin itch. I have very sensitive skin and tons of allergies to everything. I can’t use dandruff shampoo because of the zinc in it for example. Can’t wear jewelry that isn’t gold or silver. Can’t eat most foods. I’m a walking mess As I get older my head gets itchier. It’s so bad I can only wash my hair once every 5-7 days. I have tried prescription shampoos. Every brand out there. The prescription ones help a lot. But I still get dry skin on my head. It’s gross. The doctor said it’s likely eczema on my scalp. Goodie. Another skin issue! So I will say flat out. Out of desperation I asked ChatGPT. I explained the issue and said HELP. I told it what shampoos I’ve tried. It suggested this. It said. Let’s eliminate all the common causes of dry skin and itching like perfumes, dyes, and many chemicals. It told me to still do everything the doctor told me but just try swapping for this. Fine. For the price it’s worth the gamble. My husband will grumble when I give him yet another shampoo I can’t use right? So what the heck Holy heck!!! It helped. I won’t say I’m itching free BUT I will say my head itches like 75% less. I no longer look like a crazy person itching my head all day for days after I wash my hair. I use this with my shampoo brush and it works. I won’t say my hair isn’t a little frizzy whereas my old shampoos didn’t do that BUT it’s minor and livable. I have highlights and it doesn’t seem to alter the color so far. I’m 3 weeks in and it seems to be working. It doesn’t lather as much as some shampoos but my hair feels fine and clean after. I have very very fine hair and it doesn’t seem to weigh it down either. If the conditioner goes on sale I may snag one to try but for now. This is my go to. PS my husband just inherited all my old bottles of shampoo I was trying and all I can say is he’s got a 2 hear supply now given how little product he uses each time he showers LOL

It's a medicated shampoo; it doesn't feel irritating and doesn't have an overpowering scent. I liked it; overall, it's a good option for hair prone to flaking.

I was having itchy scalp issues due to menopause. No matter what I used or didn't use.....nothing was working for me. So I gave this a try. And it works! At first I didn't like it because I have 2B hair: naturally dry and wavy. I do not use any hair products other than shampoo and conditioner, plus I air dry my hair. The first time I used this my hair felt like straw. I did learn that I can not use this daily due to my hair type. But what I change in my routine was this: I wash (and condition) my hair twice a week: Sunday and Thursday. And while I am still not used to the straw feeling, once I add the conditioner my hair feels so much better. So no more itchy scalp, and no extra hair shedding. I do buy the Conditioner to go with it. For me, the two together work great. But for some of you.......it will definitely be too harsh to use daily the same way as it was for me.

Very good for skin

The only brand we use on our kiddos very sensitive eczema prone skin. Recommended to us by the head of Dermatology at our medical group. Scent free, not harsh on skin or hair. Good lather, no residue left after.

What a great shampoo. I have extremely sensitive skin and have tried so many names to even mention that contained the amount (contents) as Vanicream ranging in price from$13 to close to $30 and none were as effective in relieving my symptoms. The extreme- times- of maddening itching. I visited with my dermatologist and she prescribed Ketocanazole medicated shampoo.After using - following directions —waiting 5 minutes before rinsing and a dozen attempts and still could not realize the results I needed to make a difference . After trying so much I came across Vanicream. I had never heard of it. I was in for a surprise. Immediately with the first usage I felt relief. I was stunned. All extreme itchiness disappeared. Before I found Vanicream I was buying a Gallon of Dial Antimicrobial soap not antibacterial but antimicrobial for sensitive skin. It helped somewhat but not enough. And was roughly $39 a gallon. Along with using Dial sensitive antimicrobial soap My Dr. prescribed a prescription for Hydroxizine 50mg 4 times daily to contain allergy type itching symptoms. Many more times more effective than other anti itch over the counter medications. With Vanicream, -I no longer use Hydroxizine except for I x at nighttime as it helps one sleep as it also induces drowsiness as a side effect but used specifically as an anti allergy anti itching agent- and for me—was much more effective than Melatonin. My next major concern is how far one bottle of Vanicream would last. And another surprising revelation. How much would I have to use to cleanse my hair and be effective. At first, I used the same portion from my refillable bottle of Dial and found I could use 1/2 to 3/4 less of a portion with Vanicream. This was crazy. Though it’s not advertised as concentrated- it certainly works like concentrated. The same size portion- using 3 pumps of Dial-I only needed one pump of Vanicream. Transferring to a refillable pump bottle creates a metered amount for each pump, rather than pouring onto my hand - the amount varies with each usage. - making the pump bottle a better method. Making it also last longer with each metered pump along with how concentrated it is -than any previously used hair product. And I had never heard of Vanicream!. . Also I found out I do not need to use a conditioner which may or may not be the case for each individual that uses this product. .Accompanying Vanicream I use Ginger Lily Farms Club & Fitness Nourishing Body Wash, 100% Vegan. I buy that in the gallon form for $21. And it works equally as well as Dial using the same portion. With Vanicream using the same portion as Ginger Lilly Farms and Dial -.I found that I could have easily cleansed from my hair to my waist. With each metered pump. it is not only long lasting but an incredible value that works with the symptoms described in their description. I am still in shock that I found this shampoo. Maybe shock is too strong of a word. But stunned is not. I finally found a product that works that I wished I had known about years ago. It certainly is providing the relief I needed which is Stunning.

I absolutely love that this doesn't irritate my scalp like 90% of shampoos seem to do for me right now, but unfortunately it does strip color-treated hair after a couple weeks/several washes. It may be the sodium hydroxide or sodium chloride, which from what I read are two ingredients that can do that. So, sulfate-free, but I would not say it's color-safe. However, the main purpose for people with sensitive scalps should be 4-5 stars, as I've gotten relief when I use this shampoo. I know it's not fragrances per se that bother me, because I have one fragranced one I can use too, so the other components must be non-irritating. I think using this continuously may cause some dry strands through and it cleanses well but maybe doesn't condition the scalp/strands like other shampoos with their many ingredients.

I really like this shampoo! It cleans my scalp and hair really well without leaving it feeling stripped or overly dry. It does a great job removing oil and buildup, and my scalp feels much cleaner and fresher afterward. I also appreciate the simple formula, especially when my scalp is feeling sensitive or irritated. It rinses out easily and leaves my hair feeling soft and manageable. Definitely a great option for a gentle everyday shampoo!

Good product

Love that fact that it is more natural and not harsh on my scalp, but it leaves my hair quite dry and matted (I have dry hair anyway) so just a warning there.

The shampoo has no moisture ingredients, so it makes your hair break easily. It’s the weirdest texture I’ve ever felt after shampoing my hair. The conditioner helps but the last time used it, a huge clump of hair fell down my leg. I was devastated. It also doesn’t feel like it fully washes your hair, so my scalp started to get more & more itchy. I switched to Kurel shampoo & conditioner which seems to be working fine. Thank goodness my hair loss has gone back to normal. Despite the stress this has caused, the seller said I could return it. Hope this review helps people avoid the same mistake.
