Works great amazing stuff, great on RV to clean up silicone
I am a car detail-er who likes my vehicles clean and when the new motor home I just got had silicone caulking a little sloppy over the seams I needed to find a way to trim them clean and tight, but the silicone caulking was stuck good and no way the excess silicone was coming loose without scraping plus the excess silicone was always showing the dirt on that excess silicone. Then I saw this product McKanica 0351 Silicone Caulk Remover Gel, 8 oz Cartridge on Amazon and read reviews and most seemed to remove silicone from fiberglass very well. So I tried it and experimented with how long to leave it on to remove excess silicone but I did not want to remove all the caulking completely in most areas. Directs say put place gel material from tube over silicone bead and let it sit 2 to 3 hours and scrape off loosened silicone. I had to do one one section that I wanted to remove and redo the caulking on slide out( it was real sloppy)Yes it worked as directed, kind of turns silicone into a waxy goo that you scrap off with plastic scraper, I found a thin old credit card worked best for me. It took off 90% of old caulk and a 2nd application took off the rest but it was a heavy area of silicone bead that needed 2nd application. After removing excess old caulk I took a terry cloth and rubbed till it was gone off fiberglass finish, then I took sponge with car soap and washed area with hose and it was all gone....... rinsed all away, no residue this stuff totally breaks down silicone it is gone and ready for new caulk. I was really amazed to be honest. It works I am sure great on bathroom tubs and showers which are also fiberglassWhat I really like is how this works when you just spread it on sloppy or excess silicone only to devolve just that part of seam without the whole seam and 30 min I found removed thin layer of excess sloppy silicone off without affecting the seam which i did not apply to. I was able to cleanup sloppy excess silicone, wipe it clean off fiber glass and make the motor home look perfect leaving my fiberglass clean and shinny. I would suggest to experiment on your unit as well and wear rubber gloves it leaves no film on fiberglass but did on fingers. Its kind of a weird solvent, but it works great. After I was done, I waxed areas I completed and am very happy with the perfect detailed look my motor home has now. It did not effect my decals, fiberglass finish or any of the finish at all just the silicone. It just dissolved the 100% silicone caulking that I placed the gel solvent on and it doesn't have an odor either.

Dissappointed! and out nearly $20
I don't understand all the positive reviews listed here. I applied some of this jel to a sample of 100% silicon seal and waited several hours: there was no measurable result. The silicon was still pristine and not degraded in any way. it was not cut able, scrape able, or in any way changed from the cured state. dissappointed!

Not very useful for me
The applicator was cracked resulting in leakage of the product on application. It seemed to be helpful in softening thin layers of silicone. Followed the instructions to the letter. Not very useful for me.

Did the Job....Not Cheap!
This stuff got the job done. My old shower stall was installed with large amounts of Slicone caulk. I tried several other products and nothing worked. It was looking like I was going to have to dig the old Silicone out with a screwdriver and hammer. However, I came across this stuff on Amazon and decided to try it out despite the price. I followed the directions to the letter. Wow! This product worked amazingly well and was worth every penny.

Hard to Say
I have a bathtub where the silicone around the tub and shower walls was not applied very well and I wanted to redo it. I was kind of hoping I'd have the success of some of the other people reviewing this product, but alas, I did not. I can't say this didn't work at all, but it's also hard to say how much it did help. The caulking I was removing was about 3 years old and probably a half a centimeter thick all around. I applied the caulk remover, covered it with plastic wrap, and let it sit for 4 hours. I had things to do, so I didn't feel like testing a bit and then coming back later if it wasn't ready, especially since the instructions said 2-3 hours would be enough. So I just went at it.Someone on the reviews said their silicone absorbed the caulk remover. Mine did not. If it changed color at all, it was not noticeable. I wiped off all of the silicone and proceed to remove the caulk. I do think this went a little easier than when I tried removing the silicone without caulk remover, but I still had to cut at it with a knife to loosen it up and assist while pulling it up. I feel that without caulk remover though, the silicone was a little tougher and more likely to break as I was pulling at it. So in the least, the caulk remover made the silicone slightly gummier. It was not that soft though, nor could I wipe it away as another reviewer mentioned. Perhaps the silicone has to be thinner for that to work.I read another review on here saying the caulk remover had a strong odor, and another one saying that there were no instructions on opening the product. To the first, I think this stuff has a slight odor, but I wouldn't call it strong. I couldn't smell it when I closed my shower doors. To the other, there are instructions on the bottle telling you to cut off the tip. Also while most people are probably smart enough to wear gloves, I was too lazy to go look for some so I did everything with bare hands. If you follow a similar course, your hands won't fall off but expect to have slippery hands for about 2 days, followed by rough hands with breaking skin.

Worked on a car
I have a Fan-tastic Vent in the roof of my van that I sealed up a little over a year ago with GE 100% silicone. It developed some minor leaking after a while, so I decided to pull it off and re-caulk it. I had never tried to remove silicone before and assumed I would be able to just pull it off easily. Man, was I wrong! It's almost impossible to get that stuff off once it's cured.I ordered this product and applied it liberally to the remaining silicone. After waiting 3 hours, I used a plastic putty knife to scrape the silicone off. It still required some effort to get it off, but the silicone had been broken down into something much softer and easier to work with. It also didn't have any negative effects on the paint.I'd definitely recommend this to anyone trying to remove old silicone. Even though it's kind of expensive, it's well worth the saved effort.
