I destruction tested one with a torch on the plastic and running 30 amps through, for 15 minutes, with little ill effect. I suggest buying units which already have a pigtail that you can crimp or solder onto; soldering on your own wire is easy enough but reassembly is a royal PIA that requires 3 hands. For high current applications (15 or 20A max), I suggest removing the fuse and replacing the fuse and spring with a low tension spring of thicker wire and using an in-line fuse as necessary. BTW, running 15+ amps, continuously through you vehicles lighter socket will likely blow it's fuse and surely will "cook" it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ High quality, rugged auto cig adapter plugs *by M***C on Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2019* While a lot of people use power poles these days there is a lot to be said for the convenience of using cig plugs for accessories both in cars and in the field with Marine batteries (which I use with large portable telescopes) in carrying cases.
