If you are serious about electronic PCB troubleshooting, you need this. It is great. Sturdy stand, good optics, now we can't be without it as it unveils all the nasty stuff you can't see with a loop or naked eye.

Alright, lets get this out of the way first. If you are going to judge this against a Mantis or a Zeiss or a Bausch & Lomb you will be dissapointed. Its none of those. If you are in electronics testing and repair or even hobby work and want a well built value priced NON TOY stereo scope then you looking at the right item. I find this to be a very good bench asset in doing fine repair and assembly work. You will though need some accessories to make this work well. 1. AmScope SM05 0.5X Barlow Lens For SM Series Stereo Microscopes (48mm) You will definitely need the Barlow lens to increase your field of view for working on a circuit. Its a must have. 2. Ring light. You may get suggested another ring light but dont follow that like. You will see lots of complaints about its construction. You need the LED-56S-ZK 56 from Amscope. AmScope LED-56S-ZK 56 Microscope Ring Light LED Ring Light Illuminator with Dimmer for Stereo Microscope Well constructed, powercord doesnt get in the way and the mounting screws go thru brass PEM nuts. Much better than the plastic the other model goes through. Everything you need to mount it is in that box. 3. Different eyepieces. You really dont get any but IF...you want more cover these are the ones that fit. AmScope EG-SM Microscope Eyepiece Eyeshields or Eye-guards They arent bad and they are inexpensive to try out. Some notes: 1. HEAVY! The base is substantial! Big old piece of iron to keep it from tipping over (that wont be good). 2. Engrish. The assembly instructions arent the best in the world so look at pictures of this thing to figure it out. You'll know the main vertical rod and the locking ring as well as the horizontal arm. You may though have some head scratching with the scope end installation. A few minutes of looking at it and you will figure it out. 3. Tech Manuals and downloads. DO NOT THROW OUT THE BOX! there is a code on it that will allow you to download the digital copy of the tech manual. 4. Optics setup. If you know how to fit and adjust a pair of field glasses to your head and eyesight then this is will be very familiar. If not, you may have a little difficulty but it is pretty easy to do. Pupil distance, right eye focus, both eyes and adjust the left lens until its all in focus. Done. 5. Be sparing in lubrication! The ONLY thing you may want to do is like...show your can of CRC-336 to the paper towel and rub down the vertical and horizontal bars. TEENY TINY amount do not overdo it or those friction nuts holding everything up and horizontal may not work. 6. The cover. Yes it comes with one. Stinky vinyl, it fits and use it! That's about it. Again its not a Zeiss but its not a toy. Its value priced and with the right accessories will give you pretty decent performance. Good luck!

Assistenza pessima, messa a fuoco non regolabile, spazio di lavoro insufficiente

This is the first stereo scope I've owned, and the first I've used in many many years. I was prepared to pay twice as much but decided to take a chance. I'm very pleased! The fit and finish is excellent. I've found none of the rough edges or cheap-outs that often accompany bottom of the price range items. The base is *very* heavy and therefore stable. The chrome finish on the tubes makes adjustments very easy and yet the various knobs need only be finger tight to hold things in place. The glass is defect free and the focusing rack is velvet smooth. An additional surprise is that the eye pieces can be adjusted to compensate for my extreme near sightedness and being able to use it without glasses is a super bonus. The intra-ocular adjustment of the eye pieces is critical and it takes a bit of practice to get them set just so for full binocular vision. But, once you've got it tweaked, everything is clear and sharp. The magnification is more than adequate for my use assembling printed circuit boards and the wife is using it for her various crafts. One caveat is that the 'barrel' is just a bit bigger than the LED lighting rings (sold separately) will accommodate. I returned the LED ring and now use two inexpensive desk lamps which provide more than enough illumination.
