Safari Ltd. Forest Dragon Toy - 6 Inch Realistic Fantasy Figure for Kids

this product is reflective of all the figures I have ordered from Safari Ltd. they are sturdy, but all features are ornate and indicative of the species they represent. of course dragons are mythical but fun and creative, and the dragons I have ordered so far are beautifully crafted! these figures continue to be great fun for kids, and great collectibles for adults.

I've been looking for less-expensive miniatures to use in roleplaying games like Dungeons & Dragons. I decided to take a chance on this dragon figure to see how well-suited for the task it was. I was very pleasantly surprised by it when it arrived. Miniatures for roleplaying games are generally in the 1/72 or 25mm/28mm scales, and this dragon fits very well with figures of those dimensions. In comparison to a human-sized figure of those scales, it is impressively large, probably (in game terms) in the Huge size range. The sculpt is dynamic and ferocious. The paint job is really well-done; the green paint has a slightly iridescent quality to it, and the details are meticulously executed. The pose also makes it pretty stable. The only down side to the figure, and it's not much of one, is that the wings are very soft and flexible. This would only be a concern if the figure is given as a toy to a child, because the wings would likely not survive too much rough handling. Overall, this figure would fit in quite well in a RPG mini collection; in comparison to similar plastic miniatures designed specifically for those games, it is more affordable, and at least as well-made.

I have been pleasantly delighted by my purchase of the forest green dragon figurine by Safari Ltd. Over the past several days that I've had it, I've found myself repeatedly picking it up just to admire its detail and coloration. Whoever designed it took evident pains to ensure it appears as realistic as possible, and the detail is pretty nice. You can spend far more and only get a slightly better results. It is hard plastic (the wings are softer, though still quite resilient) and should stand up to considerable wear in use as a toy. That said, I can find some slight faults with it. Namely the paint job, while very good, did leave a few scales lesser-done, but these take away only very slightly from the overall effect. The molded name could have been better placed on the belly, or perhaps an inside hind leg rather than the much more visible wing. it is not as apparent on this model as some others, and again detracts only slightly from the quality of the figure. Both defects are, in my mind, readily forgiveable, though I understand for those who do roleplay or certain board games and use this as a piece, find the logo to be a little more distracting. I do neither, it is an ornament piece only for me. Overall, as a dragon lover I am well pleased with this and happily recommend it. Am looking to maybe give it a playmate in due course. It will be on my desk for quite a few years to come.

This is a very detailed plastic dragon statuette. Pretty colors and paint. However, it is much smaller than I thought it would be. The price is about right or maybe a little too high but not bad for a collectible. It doesn't do anything, no moving parts, etc. I'm sure my granddaughter will enjoy it.

The Safari Top quality, as always ! I collect those dragons, they're all my favorite among other trademarks ! Their style is uniquely beautiful and original... they're not just "toys", they are also great collectibles for dragon lovers !!!

I purchsed this as a model for myself and not as a toy for a child, so this review is more detailed than might be otherwise needed. If you are looking for an affordable action figure of a dragon that follows the stereotypical "western" form, and doesn't have two heads, or four eyes, or six limbs, then this is what you are looking for. I have only one negative thing to say about it and that is that they really could have done without the big block of text stamped molded into the underside of the left wing :( Granted, its a toy, and most kids wont mind this, but I collect dragon figures and found this rather annoying... I can not speak to its durability, really, since it is not my intent to destroy it. Clearly the wings, which like the rest of the model are made of rubberized plastic, are separate mold pieces, but they appear to be VERY well attached--- attempts to wiggled them separate from the body suggests they could not easily be removed, if at all. If purchased for a child, I do not believe this should be much of an issue for play without specific intent to destroy. The picture for this product is a little 'green saturated'.. the actual model does not seem quite so vividly green in normal light. For mold detail I would give it 4.5 stars (the text thing) For paint detail I would give it 4.5 stars (however, excellent for a child's toy) Overall appearance I would give it 4.5 stars.

Purchased for use with D&D. Size is pretty much perfect, maybe a little big, and I just don't care that it has no base for tabletop grid maps, as I feel like a dragon is of such a size that we just fudge the numbers (on the dragon's side). I like Safari's dragons because they can each be multiple things, such as green, some kinda metallic, etc. I'd also like to add that the price may seem high, but the paint and plastic quality are unbeatable. Not even Schleich can compare to some of the detail these pieces; I would argue Schleich's only superiority is that some of their dragons have less conventional details and colors, which looks cool, but not enough to justify Schleich's higher prices. The paint on Safari is meticulous and clever, incorporated well into wing and fin areas that may be transparent plastic, and the great sign of attention to detail was dead-on every time -- namely, the eyes aren't all F'd up. On any mini or toy, the rest can be perfect and freakishly placed eyes just ruin it. Safari doesn't do that.

I bought a number of these figures for my daughter who wants to collect mythical beasts. This, like the others, are high quality and she is delighted.
