## Description

Pu-erh tea is a semi-rare type of tea that is exclusively made in southern Yunnan of China and derives its name from the Pu'er County in which it's grown. The aged ripe (shu or black) pu erh tea undergone both piling process and aging process during which it can mellow and improve, much of the bitterness and astringency inherent in the tea leaves have dissipated. Pu'erh tea is post-fermented, which means that the tea leaves go through a microbial fermentation process after they have been dried and rolled, causing the leaves to darken and change in flavor, it is therefore known as "black tea" or "dark tea" in the West. Ripe pu'erh tea has a bold, smooth, rich flavor that many consider earthy, woody or mushroomy. It often appeals to coffee drinkers and pairs well with rich desserts. Review: Great tea for the price - I was pleasantly surprised by this tea, I was expecting a middle of the road tea, something to throw in the gaiwan at work in the afternoon. What I got was a rich, deep brown nectar that gives multiple steepings, and punches way above it's weight in flavor versus cost. This tea is delicious. Like others have mentioned in the reviews, there is no bitterness. I don’t even have to add any sugar because it tastes so good. It is gentle but has significant flavor. This is my first time trying this tea and I’m a big fan now.
