2 Year Update: Just as expected, perfect!
Update: (01/2021) I came back looking to see what size I ordered of this sock. Decided to give an update while I was at it! Darn Tough remains one of the best brands I’ve invested in as a return on investment. Over the past four years I’ve purchased eight pairs of socks (two calf socks, four 1/4s, and two no-shows). I just finished sending back the last of my Coolmax 1/4s, all of which developed holes. It took 2-3 years, which is a long time, but none of my other socks have shown sign of any significant wear, so that was unusual. But this is a happy story, because I was refunded under the lifetime warranty on ALL four pairs. No questions asked. Each time they’ve given me equivalent credit on their website to purchase any new pair of Darn Tough socks I want, and this alone is fantastic. The extra cushion calf socks and the T4016 no show cushion socks I own are all incredible, and I absolutely love wearing them. Four years into converting to this brand, and I will say it a thousand times: It’s worth the $15-25 price tag PER PAIR. They’re so comfortable (for daily use, for traveling, for hiking and for camping), they last a long time, and they stand behind their warranty claims. Original Review: (12/2018) One thing I love about Darn Tough is that they stand by their lifetime warranty. My first pair of Tactical no shows arrived after an old pair of 1/4 hiker socks eventually wore a hole. I filled out their claim form, washed them, mailed them out and in about a week, I was emailed a code for any sock of equal value on their website! This is my second pair of the same sock because their my summer dailies and no show is more ideal for day to day outfits. But they’re just as padded, warm/cool, moisture wicking and odor repellant as any other pair of Darn Tough sock I own. In fact, my opinion is that their regular merino socks hold up to wear and tear and odor better than their CoolMax’s. Regardless, I’m on my feet all day at work, I do a lot of hiking, regular trails and mountains, and I travel quite a bit. Darn Tough have become my go-to sock; they do it all very well! I’ve replaced all my old socks with Darn Tough Tactical cushion no shows for summer and warm climate hikes, and half calf full cushion hiking socks for winter and cold weather hikes.

Tough High Quality Socks!!
The price that you see is for 1-pair, which seems very expensive for socks...and yes you can get a 6 pack of normal cotton socks for the same price, but these are worth the price. First and foremost, they have a lifetime warranty! That is right if these things wear out, get holes, lose elasticity or get damaged for any reason you can send them back to Darn Tough and get them replaced. So, buying 6 or 7 pairs and you are pretty much set for life. The socks form to your feet so sizing is important. The sizing chart seems ok for the most part, but because these are form fitting if you are near the edge of a size, I would get the larger size. I wear a size 11 4E and I need the extra-large size because of my wider feet, so if you are 2E, 4E, or 6E you might want to try a size up. These are 60% Merino wool which means they wick away moisture and keep you warm in the winter / cool in the summer. I live in New England where we can have 90F summer days and 0F winter days, and these feel great and never let my feet get damp, cold, are overly hot. Most outdoor people will always advise wool socks instead of cotton, because they dry quickly, wick away moisture, and maintain their insulation even when wet. They also tend to stay odor free far longer than cotton. In a pinch you could wear these multiple days and unlike regular socks they do not smell and prohibit bacterial growth. Even if your feet get soaked and you step in a puddle, these socks tend to keep your feet warm even if soaked. These are also reinforced and thick in all the right places and seem to provide extra support almost like a custom insole in the shoe. This makes them thicker than most socks, but I had no problems wearing normal shoes, and as mentioned previously the unique properties of wool allow these to feel great even on the hottest summer days. In conclusion these are the best socks I have ever owned, I used to be the type of guy to buy 12 socks and wear them until they looked like Swiss cheese. These seem bomb proof, and if they ever wear, I get them replaced for free...forever!! They are the perfect height, perfect feel, and have made a huge difference in comfort. Do yourself a favor and try a pair, if you are anything like me you will have 6 more pairs by the end of the week.

Best sock I've ever owned
One of the pair disappeared after two years of loving use. That was a year ago and I'm still heartbroken. I need these socks back in my life. They're perfect for everything. Okay, maybe not hiking in the summer; they're a little too warm for that. But I typically have cold feet, and these socks were my best friends. Thick, super duper comfortable. Buy. Buy. Buy. Buy.

Darn tough for a reason
These are the best socks I’ve ever owned. I have purchased 20 pairs for myself (I prefer not having to do laundry very often). Don’t let the price fool you. $20 for one pair of these socks is well worth it. There’s also a 6-pack of this same sock available for $95. Here’s what I love about these socks: * Odor control These socks use Merino Wool, and do *not* get smelly after wearing them for a full, active day on your feet. They will not create a stench. This is because most of the odor that our clothes produce is caused by a chemical reaction between human sweat and cotton. There is no such reaction with merino wool, so there’s practically no odor with these socks. Another feature of merino wool is that these socks are moisture wicking. Merino wool can absorb 30% of its weight in water before it feels damp. It also doesn’t “hold” the moisture; if you’re sweating a lot, the socks don’t get soaking wet. This also means that, in a pinch, you could wear the same socks two days in a row without feeling or smelling gross. I wouldn’t recommend doing this unless you forgot a pair, or otherwise don’t have access to a clean pair. * Comfort This is going to be personal for everyone but in my opinion, these socks are very comfortable to wear. In the Midwest, many people prefer shoes to be taken off at the front door. With these socks, I’ve never felt gross when taking off my shoes. There’s a hefty barrier between my foot and the floor. * Durability The brand is called “darn tough” for nothing. These socks have seen heavy wear. My oldest pair is 2.5 years old and they still are in excellent condition. Not a single sign of wear aside from slight color fading due to me not caring to separate lights/darks when I do laundry. * Lifetime warranty These socks have a lifetime warranty from Darn Tough. If they tear, lose elasticity, etc under normal use you can just send them in for warranty replacement/repair. If there was one bad thing I had to say about these socks… it would be that there can be some lint build up after wearing them for a day

Go 1 size range up for comfort.
Most importantly these socks run narrow. Unless you know you have narrow feet I recommend going a size up. If your fit is medium go large, if your size is large go x-large. I'd give 5 stars for the value and support, but the sizing makes them slightly uncomfortable: Darn Tough socks last. They are a good fit if you like a tight squeeze--without sizing up. Do not expect them to "break in". I've been wearing Darned Tough socks for over a year; other socks I've worn break in > wear thin > then get holes in the heels and fore of the socks by 6 months. They feel like they fit, like new socks, but they are so sturdy I haven't even gotten to the break in point. Which is typically when socks are really comfortable for me.

Exactly what I was looking for
Been running in their hiking socks for years wishing they made them in a no-show style with the same amount of cushion. Then after literal years of searching, I stumbled on the tactical line by chance, and... BINGO! Exactly what I was looking for. Their hiking socks are the best socks I've ever worn and last FOREVER. These are exactly like them, just in a solid black color. So, I expect many years of comfortable runs in these socks. Bravo Darn Tough! Just so Darn Tough knows, I'm sure there are more people like me that could care less about shedding a few ounces of weight only to sacrifice cushioning in a running sock. I know you make running socks, but not in this amount of cushion. If you offered these same socks in the traditional hiking sock color schemes, I'm positive you'd have buyers. Just look at the rest of the running sock manufacturers.

Most Comfortable!!!
These are great. I have bad feet, 1 has pins and screws in it. These are by far the best, most comfortable socks for walking. I wear Hooka’s, and they’re about the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn too. My foot measures 12” heel to toe. I bought the XL sz 12.5-14 and these fit perfect. So they do run about a size small.

Perfect ankle sock!
As my title states, it’s the perfect ankle sock! Fits well and has the right amount of cushion for being on your feet. I have other “no show” Darn Tough socks, but I’ve slowly narrowed down to these as the best. Very happy with them and have others on their way to me.
