Can you use this cleaner on opals?

I purchased this 9/2014 and went to use it this morning 1/28/2015 and it had mold floating around in it!! Is this common? Is there a "use by" date?

Mine had an expiration date on the bottom of the container. It had mold floating around too so I tossed it.

Is this good for fashion jewelry, like the $5 paparazzi jewlery?

Yes, the cleaner is safe for this type of jewelry. Please note that when cleaning fashion or costume jewelry that you do not want to allow the item to soak in the cleaner as this type of jewelry can be plated, painted, glued dyed etc. Normally, if you can safely get your jewelry wet you can safely clean it in our cleaner, but do not let it soak in the jar, dip it, brush it if needed, use your fingers to gently clean it, and then rinse with water. Enjoy!
