Who'd have thought you could use it to make gyros???
I like grilling, and I like my rotisserie, so a hexagonal spit basket sounded like it would be a good addition to my bbq toolbox. However, I had read a lot of negative reviews of products of this type from other manufacturers, (check out the comments that have been left for the Napoleon Rotisserie 64003 Tumble Basket, Non-stick or the GrillPro 24764 Non-Stick Tumble Basket). At first glance, the OneGrill product looked the same as the others, but it had no comments at all, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Look closely at the picture of this product & you'll see that this is made up of two (identical) half-cages, each of which has a screw at one end, and a hole (OK - a bent bar) at the other end. You put the two halves face to face, thread the spit through the holes and tighten the screws. There's not a lot to go wrong. These cages are mostly intended to be used for making grilled vegetables, and I'm sure they do that well enough. But I found a different purpose for mine that you may want to consider. I am a big fan of Alton Brown's "Good Eats" TV show, and I was especially enthralled by his program about making Gyros at home (it's on youtube with a title something like 'my big fat greek sandwich"). Essentially, his recipe calls for you to make a kind of a lamb meatloaf, skewer it and put it on a rotisserie (and I'm talking about a horizontal rotisserie, since most of us don't have a vertical unit like the ones you see in Greek restaurants). According to the comments on the foodnetwork site, a number of people who tried it found that the meatloaf fell apart while it was turning on the spit. Not good....Enter the OneGrill basket. I made the loaf per Brown's recipe, and put it in the cage before skewering it. The cage holds the meat together so there is no danger of the gyros loaf tumbling down into the firebox while you're cooking. The results were nothing short of amazing. Now admittedly, the cage is HOT when you take it off the grill, and taking it apart while it's hot can be a problem - so it doesn't address all the complaints about the Napoleon & GrillPro cages - but hey - you're barbecuing, what do you expect?.. I suspect I'm going to find a lot more uses for this thing.

Seller Great Product bad
Nothing wrong with the seller. The product itself is of poor quality. Was hoping it was like my last grill basket in that it was hinged. That was not the case with this product. came in two halves and was hard to get cinched together and when done you have to pull the rotisserie rod out to open and the items inside went every where. Also smaller pieces fall through the gaps in the wire. I needed to cover with screen which took me the better part of 2 hours to do. A better product to buy is the George Foreman rotisserie. It has a hinged door and small screen where materiel does not fall out

Should have come with intructions of how to use it.
One you figure out how the two half's go together,it works well. Cleaning takes a while. I usually soak them overnight to make it easier.

Its of good quality material
Its of good quality material. It fits well on the larger rotisserie skewer. I have been using it at least 3 times a week since we got it. It cleans up nicely with a scouring pad. I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars because the spacing of the grids on the sides lets smaller pieces slip out. I wish it was hinged on one side so you only have to fasten the opposite side. I had one like that once after 20 years it fell apart one day.

Wide Grates - Very Poor Design
Good concept, but really poor execution! The product description states: "Limited Grate Spacing Adds Versatility In Usage For Small Loads. Great for Chicken Wings, Vegetables, Etc."Nothing could be further from the truth! The grate spacing is very wide; in addition, there is a huge gap on both ends of the basket where most rounds foods (tomatoes, beef kabobs, etc.) will eventually fall out of. (I have included a picture of the end gaps). No cut onions or cut peppers have a chance of staying in. You basically need something the size of a small fist in order to stay in. I finally cooked lamb chops and corn on the cob (cut in one thirds) which managed to stay in the basket. It's well made, but only buy this if you plan on cooking larger chunks of food (which kind of defeats the purpose of a tumble basket).

#1 in top ten list of loser products
worst product ever. You cant fill the basket all the way which makes the contents roll around and slip out. I cut up vegiies very large and by the time they were done 90% were in the coals. Absolute waste of $$

Not the best
As others have noted, this item comes with no instructions, fits loosely, and cannot be used for veges, etc as it moves from side to side as it tumbles, exposing a relatively large gap. Works well for large items, such as chicken legs, etc., which is what we bought it for, so it gets three stars. Looks like you have to move way up to the next level to get one that really works. We are using this on 22" Weber with rotisserre.
