There are two metal hangars for garments, but plastic hangars can fit for shirts and even trench coats (which in fact I fit in this thing!). Also, there are lots of zippered pockets for holding undergarments, socks, sundries, etc...The outside pockets can fit one large hardcover book. And the carry strap does work - but after loading this b bag up with everything you need and don't need for a trip, carrying this thing over one shoulder is for the tough.And, this bag gives you instant class, if you're wearing a suit and neat shoes. It is very well made, the color is great, and it looks like it will age well and tell everybody that you probably inherited your bag from some foreign correspondant. The quality is very high, and it fits easily into the overhead bins on aircraft.The only negative thing is that the shoe compartments are too small to hold a pair of men's dress shoes. I wear a size 10.5.
