Do you think this would work to protect the very back side of your tongue from a protrusion in your jaw?

It protects the tongue from the appliance on the roof of the mouth. It didn’t cover the sides Of his tongue. However it is made of wax and can be warmed and molded to the shape you want Just don’t make it too thin

Can you sleep with this on?

My daughter did sleep with it a few nights. Her mouth was so raw from the expander cutting her tongue. What was great about this product is that it gave her tongue time to heal and sort of callous over, then she didn't need it anymore. She wore it daily for about 2 weeks. Then all of the rawness she was experiencing healed and she didn't need it anymore. I wish I had found this a few weeks earlier. It would have saved her a lot of discomfort and tears.

I do not have braces.I can, in my sleep bite down on my tongue. Can this product keep my tongue in my mouth?

not really, it comes as a flat disk and your heat from your mouth to form it to your inside of mouth for a perfect fit. It only lasts about two times for each one, I think it comes with 3 I believe. I decided to use teeth grinding guards as they are cheaper .
