I can't speak to how well they would go through the canning process, because I bought these for storing cacao power mainly. Easy to wash up. The amber color is as dark as an iodine bottle so I'm confident it will work well. They appear to be of good quality (the color is very consistent with the glass itself being amber colored not just painted on). The glass thickness seems to be consistent with other Ball jars I have. The jars arrived in excellent condition. Each jar was in a bubble wrap sleeve completely covering the jar. The box was marked fragile and that it's a set. But that box with the jars was then placed in an Amazon box with a little bit of packing paper for shipping. I previously ordered the same set (same bubble wrap, same box) from another online retailer and had to return it because they didn’t ship the set in an outer box and it ended up getting damaged in shipping. So well done Amazon for filling the order and packing it properly for shipping!

I have purchased two (2) sets. Ball is of course excellent quantity, but the amber glass blocks light. I’ve found any food items I store in the jars lasts much longer than storing in clear glass. All my cooking fats or other concoctions I make go in these jars. I’ve totally stopped using plastics and moved to glass for food storage.

So happy to have found these actual amber glass canning jars !! They are actually amber glass not plastic coated glass. I don’t use the Quart size jars too much but haven’t found anything smaller in real amber glass that were canning jar like (though there are short round amber glass containers that would hold cream or balm).

Not in the packaging shown in the photos, but this may be a plus. Maybe seller realized they needed to repackage for successful shipping. They were shipped in a sturdy cardboard box (seller) and plastic wrapped first, inside another box (Amazon). But not the Ball-branded half-box + wrap green packaging as shown. But others have pr3viously reported damage, and I received 4 boxes - total 16 bottles - in perfect condition. Darker than I expected, but it serves well the intended purpose of shielding content from UV light. It may not be clear what is inside, but at least you can tell how much is remaining “Is that Mexican Mix or Asian Mix? Dunno - but it’s shapes - and it’s half full.” . I’m using these for storage in a sunny kitchen with limited storage space, and a handy 4” ledge around the counter that passes right under a window. Others have questioned if these are genuine. I’m not a collector or expert, I would not know what to look for. The markings look identical to clear genuine Ball jars I have. Yes, the is an obvious vertical “seam” marking I guess from the mold. But so do my clear jars. Ball doesn’t seem to sell these currently, so it would be good if the seller would explain if these are “new, old stock” or what? I realize Ball does periodic color runs for collectors. I have searched and searched, and these are otherwise unobtainium, so I will reluctantly pay the price. Certainly better I’m sure than the countless cheap knockoffs sold here by others and often misrepresented, reports of breakage, surface-applied color rather than throughout the glass, questionable use of trademarks, etc. Price is high - 7x clear jars! But searches just lead to these or knockoffs of dubious quality. 4 stars only because could use more clarity/transparency from seller.

Purchased these as I'm using them to store my assortment of teas for my Pantry. I create beautiful and colorful (non-consequential art) for my relaxing hobby and pleasure. (A Pic or two could accompany this review later.) The Jars come tightly packaged in a sturdy box. I only wish the 1/2 size of these were available. The Pint Size Jars are equally as stunning to have.

They arrived in perfect condition, all the way to Colombia. Great jars. I mostly use them for freezing soup stock. No problems using in the freezer. The wide mouth works well for filling and pouring. I also use the clear glass Ball Jars and those work well, too.

It's Ball, nothing more needs to be said, except a personal message to Ball. "Please lower your price point for Amber or sell in a set of two." If I can spread the cost out, I don't feel so bad for the splurge!

Los compré cuando estaban en oferta. Honestamente, no los habría comprado si no lo hubieran estado. Las tapas vienen en dos partes (el anillo del contorno y un disco que sienta herméticamente sobre la boca del frasco). Los uso para guardar granos de café y que no les dé la luz, hacen bien su trabajo.

Me gustaron mucho sobre todo para trabajos de conservación de plantas secas de gran calidad, la luz no las estropea.

They are pretty and the price drop makes it a good buy.
